Job Description
SUMMARY OF POSITION
CAA Sports is currently seeking a full-time senior-level Business Affairs Executive to support sports agents and executives in its the New York office. The position is located in New York City. The ideal candidate is a qualified lawyer with 8+ years of experience at a law firm and/or at an in-house legal department who has expertise in brand consulting and marketing. The role will cover a wide array of commercial transactions including: brand consulting and marketing business, promotions, event production, intellectual property matters, licensing and general corporate matters. The ideal candidate must be thorough, thoughtful, detail-oriented, flexible, self-driven and collaborative. The ideal candidate must able to prioritize and juggle multiple responsibilities and have an understanding of the sports industry. Compensation shall be commensurate with experience.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBLITIES
• Prepare, review and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements, such as consulting agreements, master services agreements, representation agreements, event production agreements, vendor agreements, intellectual property license agreements, NDAs and releases.
• Support the CAA Sports Business Affairs group's overall goal of increasing organizational efficiency and achievement of business objectives in a manner that minimizes legal risk.
• Assist in further implementation of effective contract administration and document management processes.
• Advise agents and executives on business strategy for transactions of varying complexity and provide real-time and thoughtful advice to agents and executives on a variety of business and legal issues.
• Anticipate and identify potential legal problems for the General Counsel and Head of Sports Business Affairs team and assist such individuals in developing strategies to avoid litigation and reduce potential areas of risk.
• Foster positive long-term relationships with CAA Sports' colleagues and clients.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor's and Juris Doctor degrees required.
• Qualified lawyer with 8+ years of experience.
• Authorized to work in the United States; Admitted to the New York Bar.
• Experience at law firm and/or in-house legal department in commercial law and related transactions.
• Sports industry-specific experience preferred.
• Excellent communication (written and oral), drafting and negotiation skills.
• Ability to adapt to changing business requirements.
• Ability to provide high-quality work product in a timely manner to meet demands of the organization and to effectively and efficiently multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
• Upbeat temperament, dynamic personality and highly team-oriented approach to work.
• Strong work ethic.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel) and Adobe Acrobat.
