BuzzFeed Entertainment Group is looking for a creative, adaptable, and resourceful Video Talent Manager with a strong talent management background as well as expertise in women's lifestyle content areas, including beauty, fashion, and body positivity. The ideal candidate will have extensive management experience, a proven track record of advancing the careers of talent, and a very strong set of problem-solving skills.
This position is a full-fledged people manager and team lead with a strong understanding of video production as well as talent development. This manager will know how to develop on-screen talent and pursue and create opportunities for their team. They will know how to help their reports evolve and pursue their goals, as well as set and manage expectations to also meet overall company goals. It will entail managing direct reports, assisting with pre-production, coordinating resources and budgets, and interfacing with our editorial and business teams. In addition, you should have an extensive network of contacts to be able to leverage external PR and partnership opportunities. The candidate we're looking for is extremely organized and a strong and frequent communicator who can rally a team and execute on big projects and goals. We're looking for someone very ambitious who can not only think big and put a strategic plan in place to grow an already strong brand into a household name, but can also execute.
This job is based in Los Angeles and requires 5-7 years experience in video production and management experience. We offer competitive compensation and a stock option program.
Responsibilities:
• Lead brainstorms, mentor producers, and give effective and actionable creative notes and final approval on videos with team and stakeholders
• Schedule and run efficient check-ins and other meetings with the team
• Encourage new ideas and experimentation while celebrating and iterating on successful content
• Set measurable performance goals and timelines for their team while offering meaningful data insights
• Exploring both internal and external opportunities to grow and promote our talent and brand
• Understand strategic company priorities and how the team(s) supports and fits into these goals
• Keep track of budgets on a team and project basis
• Develop internal and external marketing and promotion plans for talent initiatives and content slate
• Serve as a business partner to execute on revenue goals
Requirements:
• 5-7 years of experience in video production with people management experience
• Proven talent management experience that has led to both press and business opportunities
• Understanding of the digital landscape and a proven interest in keeping up to date with developments in web platforms and applications
• Native Facebook and YouTube user with a deep understanding of their respective ecosystems
• Obsessed with data, analytics, and has the finger on the pulse of viral trends in short and long-form digital video
• Extensive experience delivering on time and on a budget
• Knows how to execute on complex video shoots and projects from beginning to finish
• Deep understanding of how titling and thumbnails can affect a video's performance
• Experience giving creative notes and workshopping creative ideas as well as giving effective technical notes
• Must have excellent interpersonal communication skills
• Ability to handle multiple priorities
• Talent agency or talent management experience preferred
• Low ego, high emotional intelligence, direct and supportive communication style
• Must be a DOer. Someone who isn't afraid to get their hands dirty and do the job themselves if they have to.
