The Role
BuzzFeed is looking for a seasoned, thoughtful Production Manager to join the Editorial Production team. You'll bring exceptional organizational skills and leadership to our production team. You're passionate about cross team collaboration and creative problem solving.
You Have
• Uphold the values of transparency and collaboration in the growth of the operations and content organizations
• People Manager with an emotional intelligence and a sense of humor
• Train and oversee coordinators and support staff as needed
• Source and book freelance production crews
• Perform delegated tasks from Managing Producer
• Communicate procedures to direct reports and freelance crew
• Troubleshoot daily production challenges and escalate as needed
• Navigate simultaneous short/long-term projects with consideration of priority
• Review and provide feedback on production timelines
• Prepare and submit production budgets for approval
• Process payroll, permits, talent vouchers, reimbursement, and check request paperwork for submission to Accounting
• Oversee and track production budgets and actuals
• Research, source and negotiate rates for shoot locations
• Ensure productions are on budget/on schedule
• Collaborate with creative, post, casting, and studio ops teams throughout each project
You Will
• 4 years of production experience
• Prefer 2 years of production management experience, ideally focused on unscripted formats
• Knowledge of Production and Operations best practices
• Proficient in budgeting and scheduling
• Ability to adapt to last-minute changes in schedules/plans
• Experience sourcing and hiring freelancers
• Experience producing International productions from the office and on location.
• Ability to ask for help, work toward self-improvement but not perfection, provide constructive criticism, listen and create opportunities for yourself and others.
• Experience with Movie Magic Budgeting, Google Drive and Excel
