BuzzFeed's Media Brands is looking for a data-driven content strategist to collaborate with and support our editorial leads and key partners across our portfolio of lifestyle brands (Tasty, Nifty, Goodful, As/Is, and Playfull). We're seeking an astute, numbers-obsessed data junkie who can pick up internal and third-party tools and is well-versed in modeling, insights, and audience development.
You are:
• A data evangelist, able to make insightful presentations and reports to content creators, business teams, and non-technical audiences
• A strong leader with the ability to inspire and motivate a team of content creators to use data as a key instrument to their success
• A business-focused analyst who is able to correlate different types of content performance with brand lift and revenue
• Willing to go above and beyond to create and present impactful stories surrounding data audience behaviors
• A data ''Swiss army knife,'' not above doing manual data pulls and content tagging when necessary
• A goal oriented, team player and fast learner who can quickly gain expertise on our brands, how they are differentiated in market, and what their audiences look like
You will:
• Be the liaison between BuzzFeed Media Brands and non-editorial teams (data science, publishing, marketing, and business research & insights) for anything data, insights, or analytics-related
• Monitor real-time analytics across YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest, and Google to flag anomalies and optimize performance and revenue
• Be able to predict and communicate succinctly meaningful audience consumption/engagement behaviors
• Give data-driven feedback and insights to our editorial teams that help our brands generate more habitual and intention-driven audience behavior
• Track all revenue stream progress and content KPIs against goals
• Track ROI of content initiatives as they pertain to performance, brand lift, and revenue
• Identify and track KPIs as they relate specifically to the lifestyle media market
• Partner with the publishing, data, and research teams to track loyalty and impact measurements like CTR, unique users, and competitor trends
• Work with our research and insights team to develop data-driven stories that support brand vision and differentiation
• Monitor retention and drop-off rates and make recommendations to content creators
• Conduct social data analysis to quantify the impact of content strategy, including methodical A/B testing of content formats
• Strategize with the data/tech team to build new data tools and dashboards specifically tailored for BuzzFeed Media Brands
• Surface thematic content insights using a combination of past performance, competitor trends, and platform trends
You have:
• 3 years of experience in audience development, analytics, content strategy and/or publishing strategy
• Ability to translate complex data sets into actionable insights
• Experience with Facebook, Google Analytics, YouTube, Pinterest, and Crowdtangle
• Deep knowledge of data and growth with the ability to critically use data to guide decisions
• Strong passion for lifestyle media, understanding of lifestyle landscape across categories (including home, food, beauty, DIY, parenting, travel, etc.)
• A positive, curious disposition
