BuzzFeed's Research & Development group is looking for a collaborative Program Manager to join a dynamic in-house team of content creators focusing on challenges for internal and external partners.
BuzzFeed's R&D arm focuses on projects with high revenue and/or innovation potential across content, production, branded and growth questions for established BuzzFeed brands like Tasty, As/Is, Nifty, Goodful, BuzzFeed News and BuzzFeed Originals. You will be a person with strong project management skills that can focus on building out opportunities surrounding our internal talent program - the Creators Program - as well as collaborating with the R&D group on a number of projects spanning across BuzzFeed internal operations and partnership opportunities. Internal challenges could include developing solutions or prototypes for emerging content formats (AR, VR, social, etc), knowledge sharing processes, internal business sprints, platform interaction, production challenges, talent development questions, new ad products, etc.
You are comfortable working in a rapidly changing environment, often with a very high level of ambiguity and a lean team of collaborators. They must be extremely adaptive, with the ability to work well across personalities, departments and cross-functional teams. Experience with talent or influencer programs, a background in digital media and experience on the business side are all beneficial in this position.
Responsibilities:
• Serve as an internal voice and promoter for BuzzFeed's talent program across BuzzFeed
• Work with talent re: posting on their channels, tracking progress, or Facebook cross distribution as well as brainstorming, strategizing and educating talent on channel/brand development across IG/FB/YT
• Work with Branded Ops, HR and Finance/Accounting to coordinate talent interest, availability, progress and compensation across internal and alumni talent for branded deals or collaboration opportunities
• Ideate, coordinate and run video shoots with Creators/alumni/outside talent alongside editorial teams
• Attract and recruit new BuzzFeed employees to the program, including working with HR to walk talent through contracts, rates, procedures and expectations
• Run our monthly Alumni newsletter, plan alumni-related events and conduct additional activities to support our collaboration with former BuzzFeed employees and friends of BuzzFeed
• Create weekly reports detailing revenue generated by the Creators program
• Closely collaborate with R&D team on additional projects, including participating in brainstorms, giving feedback on content experimentation, or providing creative insights on internal brand development projects
Requirements:
• At least 1-2 years experience in a talent-oriented industry and ability to navigate complex talent relationships and dynamic personalities to manage the goals of the Creator program
• Avid consumer of media with an intimate knowledge of advertising and consumer trends including content creation, distribution, and research
• Understanding of the media industry's core business models and desire to innovate in those areas
• Experience with project management and the ability to multitask
• Excellent presentation skills and communication abilities at all levels of both internal and client organizations
• Versatility and adaptability in a fluid and constantly-changing environment
• Scrappy, collaborative, experimental creative and a team player
