Bunim Murray Productions, Producers of Ball in the Family, Born This Way, Total Divas, Keeping Up with the Kardashians, Real World, Bill Nye Saves the World and many more is currently seeking a Director, Business and Legal Affairs to start as soon as possible in Glendale, CA.
The chosen candidate will negotiate and draft a wide variety of television production-related contracts and releases, including deals to acquire and develop unscripted and scripted programming, production releases, talent agreements, and other agreements for the ancillary exploitation of such programming. This individual, reporting to the SVP of Business and Legal Affairs, will assist in connection with many business and legal aspects of production and exploitation of programming and will advise and support executives and other personnel on production, legal, risks, and rights-related matters.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Negotiate and draft releases, talent agreements, producer agreements, rights agreements, and other agreements in connection with the development and production of unscripted programming.
• Review programs for clearance and production processes to ensure that company is not at risk for liability
• Oversee corporate and production related insurance matters
•Vet creative write ups for potential programming to assess legal risks
•Oversee diligence for potential on air talent
• Handle other general business and legal affairs matters as needed
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
• JD required
• 3-5 years of unscripted production business and/or legal experience at a network, studio, television company and/or a law firm. Additional scripted experience is a plus.
• Excellent references and academic credentials
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Superior negotiation and legal drafting skills and high level of attention to detail
• Ability to prioritize and manage time, with exceptional organizational skills and a facility with handling a heavy stream of high-priority projects
• Strong initiative to take on tasks and set own priorities and deadlines
• Ability to excel under pressure in a demanding, fast-paced, results-oriented work environment
