Do you like playing video games? Do you enjoy photography or cinematography? Have you ever wondered how video game trailers were made? Then gather 'round children, and I'll tell you the tale of being a Game Capture Tech!
As a Game Capture Tech, you'll work with the Game Capture Directors, Producers, and Editors as we explore, prep, and shoot gameplay footage that will be used in trailers to promote video games both big and small. Your main job will be to assist the Capture Directors who will set up each shot using virtual cameras inside the video game environment. You'll act as the Main Character, a Rogue Ladybug, or the Zombie Wrangler - sometimes all in one day! At Buddha Jones, we pride ourselves on a very collaborative environment in which anyone's ideas could be front and center so make sure to put on your creative sweatpants that day.
Speaking of sweatpants, we are utilizing a hybrid model. While we try to work from home when we can, some games or shots require us to be in the office so please have reliable transportation (and work-appropriate sweatpants).
These are the skills you'll need to jump start your virtual adventure:
**Gaming experience on current or next-gen consoles and/or PC
**Able to take direction
**Communicative and collaborative within a team
**Can work well on your own and be self-driven with an assignment
**Creative problem solver
**Attention to detail
Additional skills that will give you an edge:
**Technical and troubleshooting skills with PC, consoles, and the occasional mobile device
**Photography/cinematography/film experience (Strong understanding of composition, lighting, and color theory in visual media)
**Strong working knowledge of cameras including depth of field, aperture, focus, lenses, ISO, etc
**Familiarity with at least one game engine (Unreal, Unity, etc)
Our days are typically 10am-7pm with an hour break for lunch. Capture Techs start out part-time as the amount of work allows, but several folks have since graduated to full-time Capture Directors so there is a definite possibility for growth in addition to just a fun job with good people.
