Bryant Park Production Assistant (PA)
Bryant Park is a public park conveniently located at 6th Avenue between 40th and 42nd Streets in midtown Manhattan. It is visited by over 12 million people each year and is one of the busiest public spaces in the world.
The park hosts approximately 60 large-scale events each summer from May - September. More detailed information about our events can be found on our website. A large amount of manual labor is needed to produce these events. The job of a PA is to assist with those events by setting up and breaking down furniture and other equipment under the direction of park supervisors.
Being a PA is very physically demanding. This is NOT a technical position - knowledge of camera/light/sound operation will not be used. Experience as a PA should not be considered an opportunity to further your career in the film/tv/audio/broadcasting industries.
Responsibilities:
• Prepare the park for events. This includes removal of park furniture, placement of chairs in rows,
and arrangement of barricades and signage
• Work outdoors in any weather condition
• Stay focused on a single task
• Answer questions about the park from park visitors in a friendly and professional manner
• Facilitate guest entry procedures for larger scale events
• Other duties not mentioned in this description, as needed
Qualifications/Requirements:
• Able to understand written and spoken English
• Able to lift 50 pounds, and stand and walk for long periods of time
• Able to read maps of the park to complete supervisors' instructions
• Ready access to internet, able to use email and respond quickly
• Possess a positive, ''no job too small'' attitude
• Possess at least a high school diploma
• Perceptive to surroundings
• Prompt in completion of assigned tasks
• Tidy in appearance and grooming
• Polite and friendly demeanor when interacting with members of the public
• Willingness to take on other duties not mentioned in this description, as needed
This is a part-time, seasonal position with varying hours. PAs will be able to choose their own shifts on a first-come, first-served basis. A motivated PA with open availability can expect up to 25 hours of work per week, on average, from May through September.
Applicants with previous event setup and production experience are given preference in hiring. The ideal candidate is available on evenings and weekends, Thursday - Monday, as this is when most shifts will be scheduled. Pay is $15/hour.
Interested candidates should email a resume with job history. In the subject line, write ''Production Assistant Application'' and your name. Phone calls and office visits will NOT be accepted. Due to number of applications, we will only be contacting applicants with whom we wish to move forward.
