Summary of Job
The Bookkeeper will provide support to the Salem Red Sox Management Team and Fenway Sports Management Finance Department. This role will encompass day to day bookkeeping activity of the Salem Red Sox and Diamond Fare Concessions, which entails A/P and A/R processing, Cash Management (Including Cash Handling).
The Organization is seasonal and contingent on the Minor League Baseball schedule: April to August. During season, the person selected for this position may have to work nights and weekends.
The successful candidate will have the ability to focus on, prioritize and balance the administrative duties as well as the cash handling responsibilities that are most critical and time-sensitive. This individual will also work closely with FSM's Boca office and should therefore be comfortable communicating extensively via telephone or electronic means. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Cash handling to assist with the reconciliation of game day cash and creating bank deposits
• Management and reconciliation of the extremely active petty cash fund
• Monitor and maintain the ATM activity in the team store
• Data entry of accounts payable invoices; matching AP checks to back-up for accounting approval; mailing signed checks and filing back-up for audit records
• Maintain and produce payments for monthly recurring charges
• Identify where to accrue for Virginia Sales/Use Tax on vendor invoices
• Data entry of accounts receivable activities; billing sponsorship invoices; keying sponsorship and non-AR cash deposits; filing back-up for audit records
• Deposit AR checks in the bank account, apply payments towards their associated invoice in accounting software
• Review and maintain the AR Aging weekly for outstanding accounts and adhere to the AR process; mail out monthly customer statements
• Assemble the semi-monthly PDC reimbursable for submission to the Boston Red Sox
Education & Experience:
• Minimum Associates Degree or Accounting Certificate
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills
• Minimum 3 years Bookkeeping Experience
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other accounting software, specifically modular software programs; knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics is a plus
• Acute attention to detail
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while handling multiple tasks in a flexible but professional manner.
• Self-directed in a team-oriented environment
• Ability to work extended hours, including nights and weekends, as job requires during season
• Adhere to highest standards of confidentiality and discretion in all proprietary business, financial and employee matters while maintaining open, direct, positive and objective lines of communication with management
