POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Boston Red Sox are looking for a Part-time Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach for the upcoming 2023 season. Coaches will report to Fort Myers, FL for Spring Training and then travel with an affiliate team until the end of the team's competitive season. Coaches will assist in the implementation of the Boston Red Sox strength and conditioning, sport science, and nutrition programs.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• The key duties falling under each area – strength & conditioning, sport science, and nutrition are outlined below.
Strength and Conditioning:
• Coach players though daily dynamic warm-ups and conditioning sessions
• Support the Red Sox movement screening process
• Individualize & coach athletes through resistance training and corrective programs
Sport Science Support:
• Daily: Maintain performance database and review performance dashboards
• Weekly: Produce and disseminate data reports/ relevant findings to senior S&C coach as well as other teammates (e.g., medical, nutrition, mental skills)
• Monthly: Liaise with Fort Myers staff regarding player trends
Nutrition Support:
• Weekly: Provide the dietetics staff with information related to team catering needs (e.g., team head count, mealtimes, etc.)
• Daily: Confirm catering orders and collect meal receipts for expense reports
• Daily: Oversee food delivery and set up for the team
In addition to the responsibilities listed above, the person in this position will be expected to:
• Travel with the team to every game
• Attendance and participation in Spring Training
• Support the communication efforts between the affiliate athletic trainers, the affiliate head strength and conditioning coach and the MiLB strength and conditioning coordinator
• Assisting in the body composition and physical reporting processes
QUALIFICATION/CHARACTERISTICS:
• Bachelor's degree in an Exercise Science related field
• CSCS certification is required
• First Aid/CPR certification is required
• Spanish speaking and previous baseball/softball experience are a plus
• Experience with corrective exercise assessment and prescription is highly regarded
• Experience with an Athlete Management System/Database is preferred
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
