JOB DESCRIPTION
SUMMER INTERNSHIP
Our summer internship program is a fun, exciting and education-packed 10 weeks. Each intern is specially selected and placed in a department that best fits their skills and interests. Throughout the 10 weeks they will be mentored and supervised by a Blue Sky professional in that field.
All of the Summer 2019 internships start in early June and end in early August. They are open to all college students whose graduation dates fall within the following time frame: Winter 2018 through Spring 2020. All applicants must be eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship by the Company.
EFFECTS
The Effects Department designs, develops and implements visual effects in a film (examples include: oceans, splashes, dust, snow, explosions, fire, rain, waterfalls, etc). An FX Artist is someone who has a great eye for composition, color, timing, as well as a solid problem solver with a reasonable understanding of math and physics. Often there are many unique effects that require one-off techniques. FX interns should be pursuing either BA or MFA in Computer Arts with FX emphasis, or a BS or MS in Computer Science with FX emphasis and a strong art background. Solid knowledge of Houdini software and Maya with some proficiency in Python, C and Object Oriented Programming is preferred. Experience with Renderman is a plus.

Pursuing BS or MS in Animation, Fine Arts, Computer Science, Computer Visualization or related studies.

• Experience in one or more: particle simulation, fluid dynamics, MEL.
• Developed sense of basic animation principles, primarily timing and weight.
• Adept with one or more major animation/effects package (Maya, Houdini, XSI, or other).
• Familiarity with other effects software packages (Realflow, Syflex, or the like).
• Knowledge of basic programming concepts and practices (C, C , C-Shell, Python, Perl, .rib or similar).
• Proficiency within a Unix/Linux operating system(navigation, shell scripting, etc).
• Experience working in a production environment and/or achieving aesthetic goals on a schedule.
