Associate Producer reports to the Head of Production; works under the Producer(s) and Production Department.
Associate Producer, is a junior combo position, but some experience is needed. While on-the-job training might take place as-needed, this is NOT for someone who is completely green. AP will perform any and all needed creative, logistical or practical tasks to achieve the creative and scheduled goals on all projects assigned. Achieve continuity between multiple projects while working against very aggressive deadlines. Actively maintain expertise in the latest technology trends, techniques, and tools related to create digital content.
At times the Associate Producer may be required to act as the primary or secondary videographer, if experienced. At times the Associate Producer may be required to act as the primary or secondary editor, if experienced / or as trained. While neither of these are the primary function of the position, any additional responsibilities as such will be determined by the then current workload, projects' needs and staff availability.
At times, if workload dictates, Associate Producer might act as a Coordinator or Assistant Coordinator aiding in the logistics, paperwork, communication pre-production, production and wrap of project(s) - under the direction of the current Production Coordinator.
Ultimately this is only a general description of what might be asked of the Associate Producer, and as such must be able to wear multiple hats; including but not limited to Writer, Producer, Director, Editor, Coordinator, etc...
The ideal candidate will have a passion, experience or at least some rudimentary understanding of firearms, gun laws and or shooting sports as a hobby. This will only help perform the job better, and also better understand the content being produced.
Requirements
Key Qualifications
At least 1 year of writing, producing and/or directing experience working on short-form television, digital content, social media, and/or in an internal corporate media production environment
At least some past professional experience in, and understanding of, working as a Production Coordinator and/or Assistant Production Coordinator
Strong understanding and knowledge of digital content production
Take an existing concept and creatively assist in ideating the vision from start to finish
Manage (or assist in managing) all aspects of the creative; to include, but not limited to writing creative briefs (such as treatments based on ordered concept), creating shooting scripts, creating shotlists and storyboards, selecting talent and locations, directing talent, managing production crew and overseeing creative during the edit
Must be creative, detail oriented, highly motivated and action oriented
Must be able to give and take direction, adhere to a tight schedule and delivery, in a timely fashion
Ability to work independently, possessing good communication skills and the ability to prioritize and multitask
Be a project and time management superstar within a SUPER fast-paced environment
Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems quickly
Knowledge of full creative and production process life cycle of a project from inception through delivery
Ability to work with other creatives (writers, cinematographers, editors, etc…) and communicate effectively and efficiently the creative vision
Strive to continually improve upon quality of content
Be able to work on multiple projects concurrently
Desired Qualifications
Prior editing experience a plus, not mandatory, but if not a willingness to learn preferable, as editing projects may be assigned from time-to-time, but not primary focus
Prior videography/cinematography experience a plus, but not mandatory
Should be able to post-produce and effectively give notes on cuts
Prior Story Producer and/or Post Producer experience a huge plus.
Able to transcribe is helpful.
Ability to anticipate and effectively communicate and solve practical or creative problems or issues
Technical know-how and experience troubleshooting and solving issues
Strong written and verbal communication skills with an emphasis on attention to detail
Applicants with experience, knowledge or a passion for firearms, outdoors and/or shooting sports a go to top of the list!
Education
BA or BS in communications, art, film, broadcast, media production, or related field (preferred but not required)
Additional Requirements
Must submit resume.
A bonus if you have a demo reel / portfolio to submit of either your producing/directing ability, and/or your cinematography / camera operation ability and/or editing work.
Also a bonus if you have Short-form writing samples (pdf), that clearly demonstrates your script writing ability.
Limited travel might be required, as needed, but is not the norm.
