Full Time Job
BET Networks seeks a Brand Social Instagram Lead to create and deliver high-impact content experiences and community management and engagement that amplifies the voice of the BET brand on the Instagram platform.
This person must be an Instagram guru that knows the platform intimately, is aware of the latest updates and how they can be used to positively impact user engagement on a per post level, increase video views and follower growth. The ideal candidate can create a compelling piece of content that gets the BET brand in the forefront of any conversation that the target audience is having on the platform within minutes with just a phone, a few apps, access to talent and/or legacy BET IP.
The position requires the ability to manage the brand presence across several verticals (music, culture, etc) and communities on the platform, crafting creative and strategies to increase engagements and grow brand love among all. Strategy must be cognizant of and focused on Black ambition and excellence. This also includes maintaining a roster of celebrities, influencers and rising talent that the BET audience can be kept aware of via an aggressive repost strategy.
Responsibilities:
• Ensure the BET brand is at the forefront of daily conversation within the Black diaspora by engaging the audience with impactful creative that strengthens the BET brand position with users of the Instagram platform without compromising brand guidelines or priorities
• Maintain a calendar of celebrity birthdays, holidays and other prominent anniversaries related to the Black diaspora and produce still image or video assets to generate engagement from the audience upon publish to the Instagram platform
• Create daily programming for the Instagram Stories of key brand accounts that drives user engagements, views to BET.com, subscribers of the BET Networks YouTube Channel and downloads of the BET NOW mobile app
• Craft the brand response and engagement strategy to cultural events (i.e. Governor's Ball, Afro Punk Festival, The Grammys, Summer Jam, etc) with the goal of generating engagements and/or views; in some instances traveling to the event to capture content on-site
• Monitor general conversation happening on the Instagram platform among the Black audience to ensure that BET is making our followers aware of the latest trends and events aligned with brand interests and priorities
• Work with the talent team to plan content experiences for talent visiting BET offices that leverage features exclusive to the Instagram platform
• Create a strategy to grow the following and engagement of key brand accounts on the Instagram TV platform
• Manage the publish schedule and engagement strategy of Jukin videos across the major brand accounts on the Instagram platform
• Use Wibbitz CMS to create compelling videos for the Instagram platform that leverage legacy BET IP and communicate brand values
• Work closely with the BET photo team to leverage our photo archive for ongoing reminder of BET Networks' legacy and celebration of black imagery across the Instagram platform
• Monitor brand accounts on the Instagram platform for negative response to editorial, brand or any content not in connection to linear promotion
• Work directly with BET's Corporate Social Responsibility team on the Instagram aspect of social support for all brand initiatives, including traveling to events for social content capture
• Contribute ideation for sponsorship concepts around all holidays, seasonal, regional and cultural events not connected to linear properties
Basic Qualifications
• Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in editorial, marketing & social media space, preferably with entertainment brands. Strong writing skills are critical.
• Proven experience in growing audiences and generating engagement with organic content strategies on the Instagram platform
• Experienced user of popular social publishing, reporting, and listening tools
• Knowledge of Photoshop, Adobe Premiere, video editing programs, iOS/Android apps, and cameras
• Flexibility with extensive travel and nights/weekend hours required
Additional Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree
• Must have a strong understanding of the evolution of the BET brand voice and tone, and an omniscient knowledge of Black culture
• Maniacal interest in Black culture, music, comedy and sports with an uncanny knowledge of who and what is next
• Must be agile and flexible, and a constant student to stay ahead of new trends and platform changes as they happen
• Exceptional communication and relationship management skills as this position will work closely with talent and social influencers on behalf of the BET brand
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative team environment
• Technical knowledge directing and troubleshooting live event productions for broadcast and live streams
• Ability to design & create impactful social images and video for daily distribution
• Strong ability to multitask and manage several projects
