Key Purpose of the Job:
Under the supervision of the VFX Supervisor or CG Supervisor, the Asset Supervisor is responsible for the production work delivered by the Asset department, ensuring the highest-quality photorealistic assets are produced.
The Asset Supervisor is responsible for supervising, leading and mentoring a team of Modeling and Texturing Artists in the technical and artistic aspects of visual effects production, and managing the day-today production needs. Responsible for the aesthetic and technical quality of all 3D builds across a project which consists of modelling, texturing, groom and lookdev. Works closely with Lead Asset Artist to deliver work that serves the needs of the film.
Needs to Do:
• Play a key role in improving the Assets pipeline, providing clear leadership and vision.
• Responsible for the integration of Assets into the show pipeline.
• Provide constructive creative and technical feedback to to modelling, texturing, groom and lookdev artists.
• Partner closely with VFX Supervisor, CG Supervisor and Production to ensure the desired effects are delivered and those deadlines are met.
• Responsible for supervising the overall effects and simulations on schedule and budget.
• Partners with production management to provide effects artists with performance feedback, guidance, mentoring, resolving performance issues and maintaining positive morale amongst the crew.
• Attends all relevant meetings to promote effective communication throughout the production team.
Needs to Have
• Must have a minimum of 8 years as Asset Artist and previous experience as Lead position.
• An excellent knowledge of Maya.
• A thorough understanding of the techniques and technologies relating to Asset production pipeline.
• A familiarity with pipeline issues, especially working between multiple packages.
• Excellent in artistic and technical skills.
• Good experience in leading and training teams of Asset team.
• High level feature film experience in live action VFX Films.
