Data Asset Librarian- Temp
Position Overview:
The mission of our Data Asset Librarian is to be a living gateway and guardian of data. All client project data that flows into or out of the company falls under this role's purview. This position is also responsible for ensuring and verifying that redundant backups of active project data takes place regularly, as well as facilitating the long-term archival of inactive (completed) project data.
As a Data Asset Librarian, you will report to the IT Director, who will value your attention to detail, technical prowess, and ability to work efficiently, creatively, and quickly. You will also become deeply familiar with the workflows of our Audio & Video Teams, each of which has unique workflows, data structures, and data management nuances.
This position is a temporary 3-month term and may lead to a permanent opportunity.
This role is NOT a remote position.

Core Responsibilities:
Receive and log all master materials provided by clients (be it via digital download or physical form) and migrate it from the Data I/O onto our secured network's data storage system.
Migrate deliverables from our secured network to the Data I/O and facilitate delivery to the client via their prescribed means (be it via digital upload or physical form).
Verify that a redundant copy of all active project materials exists at all times, and add new data workspaces/partitions to the backup scheme as necessary.
Collect elements of inactive (completed) projects spread across multiple data systems and organize each respective project into a single data set.
Organize the folder structures of inactive (completed) projects in a manner that makes sense to anyone who may need to revisit the project with fresh eyes in the future.
Migrate organized inactive (completed) projects to tape backup (LTO).
Verify successful migration of inactive (completed) projects to LTO, then make a redundant copy.
Purge successfully archived materials from active data storage servers.
Additional Responsibilities:
Maintain a log of all material received from clients both digitally and/or physically
Track the location of physical data assets (USB sticks, hard drives, tapes, discs)
Filename management to mitigate ''special characters'' ( / | \ : * - )
Staging/migrating files to various servers
Check-in and check-out of physical data elements
Vaulting and inventorying of physical data elements
Staging received data elements
Transport materials to/from our satellite offices as needed
Operation of various asset and workflow management tools
Facilitate FedEx, UPS, and DHL deliveries and shipments
Additional duties as deemed necessary by the IT Director and/or company management
Must-Haves:
At least 2+ years of Data Backup & Data Management experience
Experience with electronic delivery platforms (Aspera, Signiant, FTP)
Familiarity with LTO systems and LTFS
Demonstrable experience with SMB, NFS, and SSH protocols
Demonstrable experience with MacOS and command shell
Demonstrable experience with Microsoft Office (Word & Excel)
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication abilities
Reliable transportation to any of our Southern California locations 24/7
An insatiable hunger to learn
A penchant for solving challenging technical problems
Desirable Skills and Experience:
At least 2+ years of post-production or media distribution experience, OR
A 2yr degree (or higher) in Audio/Video Production OR a Computer Science field
Linux or BSD command-line interface
In-depth knowledge of audio/video file formats (MXF, MOV, MP4, WAV, AIF, AAC)
Experience with StorageDNA's DNAevolution software
Familiarity with TrueNAS/FreeNAS
Familiarity with Avid ProTools project directory structures
Familiarity with filesystem ''special characters'' and their impact on data storage
Physical Demands:
Continual computer keyboard and monitor use while sitting to perform desk-related work for extended periods of time.
Occasional walking, grasping, reaching, bending, carrying, and lifting (up to 50 lbs.).
Position may require the employee to be available to work overtime, depending on the Company service requirements.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear
