News Talk 830 WCCO is looking for the next great host on Minnesota’s most trusted station. As the voice of the Upper Midwest for almost a century, we’re looking for someone to help take us to the next 100 years. If you’re a great storyteller with an engaging personality, great interviewing skills and the ability to be a Good Neighbor for everyone in our community, we’d like to hear from you. We’re looking for entertaining and informative, NOT your political views. News and information have long been part of the tradition here, but we want your ideas on how to appeal to the next generation of listeners. For that reason, digital presence and growth will be critical.
Responsibilities
What You'll Do:
• Perform live broadcasts that are entertaining and informative.
• Communicate with producer, Director of Content and Brand Manager to ensure program goals are met.
• Assist the show producer with daily strategies, story angles, guest ideas and acquisition.
• Interact with the audience on social media daily.
• Maintain strong contacts and relationships with a variety of types of community leaders.
• Create daily content for website and social media channels.
• Prepare and research for broadcasts.
• Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with sales staff and advertisers.
• Protect the station’s FCC license.
• Monitor the shows and commercial logs for the airshift.
• Ensure that contests and promotions are executed properly.
• Cross-promotion of other station shows, and on and off air special events.
• Make personal appearances at station events and remote broadcasts.
• Writing skills for digital content a plus.
• Other duties as required by management.
Qualifications

Required:
• Synergy with co-workers.
• Must be an excellent communicator with strong creative skills.
• Knowledge of the format and audience.
• Knowledgeable of FCC guidelines.
• Connections and familiarity with the Twin Cities area, Minnesota and the station.
• A valid driver’s license, satisfactory completion of a motor vehicle record check and, if the position requires the use of applicant’s own vehicle, proof of insurance, is required.
