The Vice President - Marketing is responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of strategic marketing plans – including tactics for growing B2B & B2C ticketing revenue and corporate partnership revenue while serving our fans and building generational brand affinity for the Atlanta Hawks Basketball Club & Philips Arena. This includes the development of innovative, marketing campaigns, lead nurturing, cross-functional collaboration with internal and external partners, product development, media strategy, marketing partnership development, overseeing social media, direct response/marketing automation and content strategy across Hawks and Philips Arena channels.
An ideal candidate will:
• Be a strong team leader with sports/ticket-sales experience
• Be a creative and strategic thinker, able to drive the vision and direction for the marketing team to support the business and brand objectives of the organization
• Be pro-active, collaborative, energetic and passionate about growth opportunities for our business: mobile, G-League, e-League, etc.
• Take ownership of projects and work effectively as part of a cross-functional team
• Lead but also be responsible for hands-on work to ensure projects are completed on time and on budget
• Be data-driven and eager to experiment and showcase results and recommendations
• Have demonstrated experience in building strategies and plans focused on the sports and entertainment vertical in partnership with brand sponsors
• Display a deep understanding of analytics tools and approaches with the ability to thoughtfully and consistently draw insights from data to optimize performance toward business KPIs
• Be an excellent communicator (writing and speaking) for a wide range of audiences
• Can provide rationale and strategic explanation for courses of action and provide recommendations on business challenges
• Be a leader who is committed building a positive culture and supporting professional growth of team members
• Will coach others and serve as a mentor for the team and throughout the organization
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Develop strategic marketing plans to meet the financial objectives of the organization (both driving revenue and adhering to annual marketing budget) and increase brand awareness
• Engage with cross functional teams to develop KPIs, tools and methodologies for measuring the effectiveness of all marketing
• Work closely with the sales and analytics teams to build out lead nurturing campaigns and marketing automation strategy
• Manage day-to-day operations of the marketing department and collaborate cross-functionally with revenue, analytics, community, and creative teams
• Manage tactical execution of all marketing messaging to multiple audience segments through all channels – including media buying/planning, printed collateral, broadcast, digital, social, email, events and mobile
• Develop and implement an integrated content plan
• Partner with analytics and oversee marketing insights and testing strategies that result in optimizations for creative, product, fan experience and marketing departments
• Develop plan to grow social, digital, and mobile footprint by: growing opt-in databases for direct marketing and app, viewership on websites, and introducing enhancements to existing channels and new consumer facing technologies
• Oversee the creation and management of promotions designed to sell tickets for all home Hawks games and Philips Arena events
• Oversee coordination and integration of various vendors and resources; Manage marketing budgets
• Develop testing strategies to guarantee the most efficient approach for fan acquisition and engagement.
• Create an attribution plan for paid marketing strategies.
• Prepare and communicate regular reports on marketing metrics
• Manage external agencies/vendors when necessary
QUALIFICATIONS:
• 10 years of experience in consumer marketing and media
• Experience working in sports preferred (league/ team)
• Experience in B2B & B2C direct marketing campaigns & marketing automation
• Bachelor's Degree required; MA/MBA degree preferred
• Proven track record of successfully developing and executing marketing plans from conception to implementation
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Excellent client service, relationship management and executive presentation skills
• Highly organized and detail oriented operational management abilities
• Experience working closely with creative talent
• Flexibility in terms of handling a variety of assignments under tight deadlines while maintaining a strong focus on delivering results and quality work
• Independent, creative problem-solver that asks good questions
• Proven leadership and talent management skills, successfully leading, and developing a strong and growing department
• Must be able to work non-traditional hours, which may include nights, weekends and holidays
• Understanding of the benefits and constraints of current analytics tools and being knowledgeable of new tools on the market
• Strong analytical and project management skills
