Job Summary
The Brand Communications department of the Atlanta Hawks and State Farm Arena is responsible for the public storytelling, communication practices, and amplification of the organization's work and accomplishments across various business areas including Marketing, Corporate Partnerships, Corporate Social Responsibility, and more. The Brand Comms Manager will serve as a manager of both programs and projects, a Subject Matter Expert for assigned departments – ''clients'' - to help maximize brand awareness. We are seeking a pro-active thinker with a keen ability to see the opportunities to promote the Hawks brand in a fun, engaging and impactful ways.
Responsibilities:
• Serves as communications subject matter expert for assigned departments within Hawks organization, creating and executing integrated plans to promote brand awareness
• Works as a consensus builder to cultivate collaborative working relationships, understand department priorities, and manage expectations.
• Exhibits strong knowledge of the organization, its partners and media landscape
• Fosters relationships with local, regional and national media contacts and influencers
• Oversees quality and operational performance, ensuring flawless execution and deadline adherence
• Leverages the department's use of Linkedin and other owned channels to drive interest in the Hawks and State Farm Arena brands
• Demonstrates proficiency in writing skills to craft various types of correspondence including press releases, talking points, communications plans, presentations, award submissions and more.
• Manages budgets responsibilities for certain projects
• Contributes to a positive and engaging team and corporate culture
• Leverages her/his network of media contacts and participates in relevant professional organizations and networking activities to help advance the business goals of the Hawks organization.
• Other associated duties as needed.
Qualifications:
A combination of education and experience that would be equivalent to qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, English, Marketing, or a related field.
• At least 4 – 7 years of public relations and media relations experience is REQUIRED with either B2C and/or B2B audiences; a specific focus any of the following: brand, lifestyle, community, corporate or sports, communications including project and/or account management is a plus
• A strategic mindset that utilizes creative problem-solving to achieve results.
• Team player; organized, can prioritize in a fluid environment.
• Strong writing and editing skills, working knowledge of AP Style.
• Proven ability to pitch and land story placements, as well as build strategic communications plans.
• Independent, self-starter, able to effectively prioritize multiple projects simultaneously.
• Experienced in consensus building among inter-departmental teams and with senior-level staff
• Demonstrates advanced understanding of emerging social media channels and content partnerships in relation to media mix.
• Successful track record of helping to build and present concepts/programs for clients (internal or external) and effectively executing programs.
• Ability to spot media trends and insights and share with teams in order to capitalize on exposure for the brand.
• Two years of employee supervisory experience is a plus
• Experience with media monitoring tools including Cision and Trendkite is a plus.
• Available to work events on nights and weekends.
