Public Relations Manager
Report to Director of Marketing & Communications
This position is focused on promoting the team through media and statistical analysis of the athletes. Creating new opportunities for visibility and conversation, this position will work on a day-to-day basis with team executives, coaches and athletes. Ultimately, the goal of the PR Manager is to best position the team in a positive way through all media channels. A minimum of three years direct or related experience preferred.
PR Responsibilities
1) Set up interviews for players, coaches and senior staff to increase awareness of the Dream franchise in the Atlanta community.
2) Write press releases/media advisories and distribute to promote events and accomplishments around the Dream franchise.
3) Proactively pitch stories to local media contacts throughout the year.
4) Update the Atlanta Dream media guide for media and league purposes.
5) Provide weekly report to senior staff on media hits and upcoming interviews.
6) Update website daily with fresh content (Stories, photo galleries, videos, etc…).
7) Attend practice to provide daily updates, set up interviews and create content.
8) Create and update game notes and stat packages for media prior to games.
9) Assist with social media management.
10) Home Gameday responsibilities include:
a. Oversee media room and distribution of gameday information/stats.
b. Oversee distribution of media parking list and credentials.
c. Oversee gameday media relations staff.
d. Lead postgame press conferences for players and coaches.
e. Work with Director of Game Operations to provide appropriate set up for media.
Minimum Qualifications
Strong desire to work in professional sports
• Bachelor's degree required
• 3 years of relevant work experience with a college or professional sports team
• Knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite programs
• Advanced knowledge of social media platforms
• Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects on varying timelines
• Strong writing skills, able to write for multiple platforms and audiences
• Able to work flexible hours, including but not limited to evenings, weekends, holidays
• Great communicator, professional in presentation and able to work with multiple stakeholders and personalities
• Must be willing to travel with the team up to 50% of the season
