Full Time Job
Background:
The Atlanta Dream is seeking a high energy, detail oriented and positive person to add to their senior staff. We are looking for a motivated team member that will handle the organization's day-today accounting and finance operations. The Atlanta Dream is the Southeast's only Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) team and just completed a winning season. The Atlanta Dream will enter the 2019 season highly favored and playing in a new arena.
Position Overview:
Once selected to this position, you will be responsible for and have oversight of all accounting policies, processes and controls, maintenance of financial records, budgets, and consolidation of financial results and preparation of internal and external financial reports for the Atlanta Dream. You will report to the team's president.
Duties & Responsibilities:
• Monitor and analyze monthly operating results against budget.
• Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls.
• Supervise the Human Resources Coordinator and Office Manager.
• Assist with training of seasonal intern.
Financial Analysis and Metrics
• Recommend benchmarks for measuring the financial and operating performance.
• Manage the preparation of financial outlooks and forecasts.
• Prepare financial analysis for contract negotiations.
• Achieve budget objectives by scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances and initiating corrective actions.
• Develop revenue/expense analysis, projections, reports and presentations.
• Assist in the development of reporting tools, metrics, and models.
Monthly/Quarterly/Annual Financial Reporting
• Prepare monthly and annual operating budgets.
• Review and prepare general journal entries, general ledger account reconciliation and analysis.
• Complete monthly reconciliation of bank statements.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly and year-end financial documents, including Balance Sheets, Income Statements and Cash Flow Reports.
• Complete all necessary financial reports as required by the WNBA.
• Prepare monthly sales and use tax returns.
• Complete all corporate invoicing and processing of payments, including collection of past due accounts.
• Record and enter all cash receipts.
• Track and dispense all per diem and petty cash for team travel.
• Maintain all Property and Liability Insurance for each team.
• Approve Accounts Payable invoices for payment.
Year End Audit
• Coordinate the provision of information to external auditors for the annual review and tax return preparation.
• Manage the official annual report of actual revenues, transfers, and expenses.
• Direct financial audits and provide recommendations for procedural improvements.
Additional responsibilities as assigned.
Education/Experience
You will have a Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting (CPA preferred). You are organized and have excellent communication skills, as well as the ability to work in a dynamic, team environment. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and QuickBooks Online is required. You will possess an infectious personality, someone who brings passion and enthusiasm and shares them with coworkers, along with a strong desire to be a valuable. Your priority will be integrity and ethics.
