The Atlanta Dream is a professional Women's Basketball Team based in Atlanta Georgia and is a place where our team, our fans and our great city come together to represent the community we seek to serve. We enter our 16th year in 2023 with new ownership, new leadership, and a commitment to building the best franchise in the WNBA. The Social Media Manager will provide the Atlanta Dream a consistent voice and personality that will connect with current and potential fans, while focusing on growing our audience. This role will require a versatile content creator, with a particular strength in creative writing and wit. The right candidate will have a proven track of creating high performance content, going beyond trends to build content strategies based on the motivations, interests and challenges of an audience. This person should be focused on finding ways to earn the attention of audiences and understand that success in social media means consistently generating a reaction.
While this person will be looked at to drive success across all our social platforms, the right candidate will think Instagram and TikTok first. We are looking for someone that is performance-minded, interested in the analytics of content, and more interested in what the numbers say about the interests of the audience. The Social Media Manager will maintain content calendars months in advance but know how to make the most of the moment when the opportunity arises. They will use data and analytics to make content decisions. Most importantly, the Social Media Manager is a great teammate. This person will understand that is more important to help foster a creative environment with their teammates than to come up with ideas on their own as they will play an important role in our content team.
Responsibilities
include:
• Delivering wit and creative writing that can win people over, even when photo/image assets are not available
• Creating and maintaining the social media calendar
• Consistently delivering it the Dream's social media voice
• Assisting the Director of Marketing with consistently evolving and communicating social strategy
• Assisting the Director of Marketing with content planning, including with cross-functional groups to build holistic plans for key moments and initiatives.
• Collaborating with teammates, specifically within design and video production to develop ideas that win people over
• Building trust with our basketball players, coaches, GM that aids capturing candid moments
• Creating and publishing content across TikTok, Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and YouTube
• Leading the effort to develop regular analytics reports with a focus on interaction rates and growing our fan base
• Live content publishing throughout all tentpole moments including all games, WNBA Draft, free agency, etc.
• Taking of and posting photos and videos during tentpole moments
• Partner closely with Digital Marketing lead to understand how paid social and organic work together and develop strategies that audience growth together.
Qualifications:
• Strong creative writing ability. Experience copywriting.
• Measurable track record of growing social media audiences is preferred, ideally TikTok and Instagram
• Basic knowledge and interest in basketball. Have an understanding of women's basketball culture and the culture of Atlanta
• Interest in carrying out our mission of elevating women's basketball, and connecting to the city of Atlanta
• Familiarity with video editing software or tools as well as graphic design tools like Photoshop & Premiere
• Experience taking pictures and videos, including iPhone, for social
• Experience in an organization where the performance of content was important
• Demonstrated ability to pull data, and translate it to audience interests
• Bachelor's degree in marketing, communication or in other related field
• Three years of experience in social media and/or content production
• Ability to work nights and weekends to cover all games and key tentpole moments
• Must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 and provide verification of vaccination prior to start date
