This position is located in Los Angeles and will be remote until it is safe to return to the physical office.
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Accounting Manager / Senior Manager (depending on experience) will be a crucial team player in accounting for our commercials and talent management businesses. This is a new role that will perform general accounting functions including financial reporting and be tasked with driving process improvements.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Participate in and direct our monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes and related activities, to ensure complete and accurate financials in accordance with U.S. GAAP
• Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and trend analysis
• Prepare the manager and director participations/incentive share calculations for accruals and quarterly payments
• Review contracts related to commercial production projects and support the general ledger accounting and reporting for in-process and completed projects, including revenue recognition, production cost accruals and related shares and commissions
• Assist in the preparation of quarterly reporting and annual consolidated financial statements, including coordination and consolidation of financial reporting packages from international joint ventures and investments
• Support the annual financial statement audit by preparing schedules and working with auditors
• Drive process improvement and automation efforts to standardize and streamline policies, procedures and systems to improve efficiency and effectiveness of the accounting function while safeguarding assets
REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, economics or relevant field. CPA or equivalent credentials preferred
• 4-5 years of accounting experience, with a minimum of 1 year of management experience and 2 years of experience in relevant industry. Big 4 experience is a plus
• Experience with U.S. GAAP, business processes, and internal controls
• Working knowledge of one or more financial ERP systems, i.e. Sage Intacct, WorkDay Adaptive
• Proficiency in Word and Excel required
• Ability to prioritize and execute on multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment, while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines
• Strong attention to detail, excellent written and oral communication skills
• Ability to conduct accounting research and summarize results accurately and independently
• Self-motivated, eagerness to learn and willingness to take on new challenges
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Ability to challenge the status quo and leverage technology to build scalable processes, gain efficiencies, streamline accounting operations and improve outcomes
