Assistant Producer, Marketplace (Temporary)
Who We Are:
Marketplace is an industry leader in telling meaningful and creative stories on the radio heard by more than 13 million weekly listeners. We are looking for an assistant producer who is innately curious about raising the economic intelligence of our audience; organized and meticulous; and driven to find new and compelling ways to tell stories on the radio and digital platforms.
The ideal candidate is someone who wants to push the edge of our listener and digital experience, is imaginative and creative, loves sound, and thrives on the deadline pressure of a daily radio and multimedia enterprise.
This is a temporary Assistant Producer position for six months. (November, 2024 - April 30, 2025)
Location: Remote
Minimum compensation: $28.90 hourly. The exact hourly rate is determined by experience and education related to the role, organizational compensation structure, and internal equity.

Your Role:
• Pitch, book, produce, and edit host interviews.
• Book and prep guests quickly and in breaking news situations.
• Identifies sources/guests; proposes guests.
• Identifies and evaluates talent for potential as regular guests on the program.
• Writes promos and on-air copy.
• Produces elements for ongoing Marketplace segments.
• Produce digital content on Marketplace’s social media and digital platforms.
• Help foster a creative and productive work environment.
• Fill in for other positions at Marketplace, as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience
• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience.
• Two or more years of radio production, news gathering, editorial, or related professional experience.
• Experience in editing digital audio.
• Experience in multi-media production.

• Ability to quickly write and edit smart, compelling content for a variety of platforms.

• Superior communication, organizational, and collaborative skills.
Preferred Skills
and Experience:
• Previous employment working in a national news organization.
• Production experience.
• Reporting experience.
