Hands on job experience in the Marketing & Publicity department at the American Cinematheque, a major, Los Angeles non-profit 501 C 3 cultural institution that operates the Egyptian & Aero Theatres. The intern will participate in creating promotional campaigns to market the film programs of the American Cinematheque to Los Angeles movie-goers using paid promotion as well as publicity. The intern will gain exposure to Los Angeles media outlets as well as the organization's social media platforms. An emphasis will also be placed on the production and promotion of special events. Intern may also help to proofread written promotional materials for print and online use and develop content for the organization's blog.
The intern will assist in project-by-project promotion and in some cases, the event production of various film events at the Egyptian & Aero Theatres. Promotion techniques to be supported will include paid advertising, social media, publicity and promotions. Once the intern's skills are assessed, the intern will be given increased responsibilities in these arenas.
Strong writing skills, basic skill in using Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and other social media platforms, knowledge of popular culture, awareness of cultural institutions in Los Angeles and local events and a passion for movies are required for this internship. Cleverness and wordsmithery appreciated. Interns with skills in photography and videography will help in those areas as well.
The intern will participate in creating niche databases for promotion of specific programs through internet research and on various social media platforms. Interns work with our database using Access software as well as the Veezi ticketing system. Interns will interface with
volunteers and the audiences at the theaters to assist with production of events. Written and oral communication in English will be key as well as working with populating information into social media sites and gathering image files. The intern will also be tasked with archiving media files and assisting with accumulating press coverage about the American Cinematheque.
Intern will work under the director of publicity and marketing for the organization. We are hiring interns ASAP for 6-9 months or longer.
