The Amazon Music team is looking for a motivated, customer-obsessed business intelligence engineer to support marketing as we are rapidly growing. You will be a strategic thinker with the ability to understand business strategy, provide consultative and proactive business analysis, and demonstrate technical aptitude to create insightful and effective reporting. You should have a passion to dive deep and a demonstrated record of process improvement. The successful candidate will have technical skills, project management skills, and the ability to multi-task and thrive in an ambiguous environment. You will need to be able to gain deep understanding of customer lifecycles, funnel analysis, experimental design and create insightful and intuitive visualization to be used by a growing, global team.
Specific Responsibilities will include:
• Define and deliver reporting and visualization that supports the analytical needs of internal business leaders
• Design funnel reporting for key business goals working with our internal metrics team to understand and reduce instrumentation gaps
• Drive self-service solutions for business leads supporting experimental analysis, performance against forecasts, and an environment where key trends are recognized and acted upon quickly and proactively
• Use analytical insights to help increase teams effectiveness against key strategic goals
• Work closely with core BI and marketing teams to ensure accurate prioritization and prevent duplication of effort. Provide business requirements for foundational reporting needs and science needs.
• Ensure clear communication and coordination across local and global business, finance and technical teams.
• Quickly build a thorough understanding of the streaming music industry, the subscription business model, and key internal partners like Prime and Amazon devices
• Owning the design, development, and maintenance of scalable solutions for ongoing metrics, reports, analyses, dashboards, etc. to support analytical and business needs.
• Translate basic business problem statements into analysis requirements.
• Use analytical and statistical rigor to answer business questions and drive business decisions.
• Find and create ways to measure the customer experience to drive business outcomes.
• Develop queries and visualizations for ad-hoc requests and projects, as well as ongoing reporting.
• Write queries and output efficiently, and have in-depth knowledge of the available in area of expertise. Pull the needed with standard query syntax; periodically identify more advanced methods of query optimization. Convert to make it analysis-ready.
• Recognize and adopt best practices in reporting and analysis: integrity, design, analysis, validation, and documentation.
• Troubleshoot operational -quality issues.
• Review and audit existing jobs and queries.
• Recommending improvements to backend sources for increased accuracy and simplicity.
This position can be based in Seattle, San Francisco or Los Angeles.
Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, or equivalent work experience
• 5 years of relevant work experience in analytics, engineering, business intelligence or related field
• 5 years using, writing and optimizing queries in a business environment
• Experience in mining (, , warehouse, etc.) and using databases in a business environment with big data technologies and large-scale, complex datasets
• Experience in complex data analysis (model creation, what-if scenarios, A/B testing, etc.)
• Experience working with data visualization and dashboarding ( strongly preferred)
• Proven ability to solve complex quantitative business challenges; experience in the development of pricing analysis is a plus
• Verbal/written communication & presentation skills, including experience to effectively communicate with both business and technical teams
