The superstar who lands this role will be the lead for Amazon Music on all things hip-hop. This person will be primarily responsible for creating the industry's best playlists, streaming radio stations, and voice-driven listening experience for our tens of millions of customers. We expect this person to have major influence over hip-hop editorial coverage and the creation and acquisition of exclusive content, taking advantage of unassailable expertise and a deep network to connect Amazon Music with the most relevant artists in the genre. This person will be the face and the driving force of hip-hop for Amazon Music.
This role will be based in either Los Angeles, New York, or Atlanta.
Key Responsibilities:
• Serve as Amazon Music's primary hip-hop expert.
• Use a combination of in-depth genre knowledge and data to build/maintain playlists and stations that attract and retain millions of fans.
• Own the voice experience for hip-hop, driven primarily by the creation and maintenance of proprietary metadata.
• Interact regularly with labels, artists, and management.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.
• 3 years experience working in music programming, music supervision, or other related music-centric creative role.
• Deep and broad knowledge of hip-hop music and culture, from its origins to now.
• Ability to juggle multiple projects efficiently in a fast-paced environment while delivering outstanding results.
• Ability to set clear expectations with internal and external partners.
• Knack for instantly turning analysis into recommendations.
• History of balancing long-term strategic work with day-to-day execution
• A deep, regularly maintained network of industry contacts.
• Ability to confidently and effectively interact with counterparts of any level at partner companies.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
