Amazon Studios is looking for a seasoned literary scout to provide deeper access to literary material for potential option and development to screen.
The individual in this role should have strong relationships with the publishing community, as well as the film-agent community and authors, with awareness of both established authors and up-and-coming talent / debut novelists / short story writers. Scout should have preliminary knowledge of the optioning process, and be able to discuss literary work in context of other adaptations, film comparisons, writers, and directors. They should have in depth knowledge of the publishing world, the significance of deal-size in editorial acquisitions, knowledge of editors & corresponding taste-profiles/past works published, as well as the major publishing houses and imprints.
Our literary scout is a fundamental component of our book-acquisition process, and they will collaborate with our senior literary executive, as well as the team at large to help guide, steer, and target properties that will transform over time into high quality, prestige and auteur driven films.
The individual should be deeply passionate about their work, tenacious, and able to take a stance and support their own taste and opinion of material. They should be committed to the role and able to read quickly and make decisions under pressure, and operate with competing priorities and manage deadlines.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor's degree or applicable years of experience
• Experience in the Publishing field, film and/or agency experience, have worked as a scout previously.
• Be able to format routine weekly memos delineating literary properties circulating to editors, as well as those circulating from film agents to the film industry.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Have exceptional artistic vision and creative skills to develop an engaging with original material.
• An interest in building/maintaining a database
• An interest in exploring ways to incorporate metrics to further guide and support literary acquisitions.
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to build relationships internally and externally
