The Legal Affairs team at Amazon Studios has an opening for Corporate Counsel to join the Development group handling Movies development legal matters.
Responsibilities
include:
• Supporting Amazon's original movies businesses, including creative development, business affairs, production, marketing, and publicity;
• Structuring, drafting, and negotiating a wide range of complicated agreements such as rights options, writer, producer, director, talent, production services, film acquisitions, and co-production/co-financing agreements;
• Evaluating rights issues, confirming chain of title, and advising on guild matters;
• Analyzing and interpreting contracts and providing thoughtful legal advice to clients on potential risks and issues in a wide range of legal areas, including intellectual property, first amendment rights, digital media, and regulatory compliance.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
• 4 years of legal experience (with at least 2 years at a law firm) as a transactional attorney
• Juris Doctor from an accredited law school and membership in good standing in at least one state bar
• At least one year of experience with either movies or TV development legal affairs
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Experience in scripted television or theatrical films development (live-action and/or animation)
• In-house experience is a plus
• Ability to demonstrate sound judgment even in ambiguous situations
• Ability to work independently while being able to contribute successfully to cross-functional teams
• Excellent organizational skills; ability to manage multiple projects at once, follow through and meet deadlines
• Strong written and oral communication, analytical and computer skills
