The Amazon Music Creative team is seeking a talented, passionate expert Copywriter to help us elevate our use of written and spoken language across Marketing, Programming, Product, and Voice experiences. This Copywriter will evolve the reference voice and tone for our English-language experience across all touchpoints – and also inform how that voice and tone is represented across our 35 global regions and 20 languages. In this position, you'll have a significant impact on the customer experience as you touch much of the content coming from Amazon Music. You will be an advocate for the power of language and the Amazon Music brand's use of it.
The Copywriter should have deep knowledge and practical experience in copywriting, providing leadership from concept to final asset creation – for many media – audio, video, print, digital, OOH, and interactive voice. As well, the Copywriter should be comfortable writing for high-emotion brand situations, high-impact acquisition copy, high-turn social copy, high-function app interface copy, and a unique blend of all of this for voice design scripts. Since you will be dealing with so many stakeholders and applying the literal tone of our service, you should possess excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
The following are key responsibilities of the Copywriter:
• Applying a revised, clear, differentiated, and scalable voice and tone for Amazon Music across experiences.
• Delivery – leading in partnership with design stakeholders from briefing and initial concept, completing copy variations and decks on time that also consistently and continually raise the standard of our written tone.
• Working with Stakeholders (Marketers, Programmers, Product Designers and Managers, Social Team Members, Video and Audio Producers, and beyond) to understand their needs, then developing concepts and copy variations within the voice and tone that need to be represented.
• Working with Music partner teams – such as D1, XCM, Echo/Alexa Marketing, Prime Marketing, Amazon Studios, Audible Marketing, Amazon Advertising, and the like - to understand their inputs and goals and working to incorporate those needs into the final product of all work.
• Writing practice – making decisions and driving adoption of mechanisms that elevate how we approach copy and raise the broader team's awareness of what's required to make great use of language and to improve and scale the work across the team.
• Mentorship and freelance development – the Copywriter will have responsibilities to guide the creative standards and practice of others involved in writing and language for Amazon Music, such as the Social Media Team Members, the Voice UX team, and many others – inside and outside the company.
• Advocacy and Outreach – work with Writers and others responsible for the use of language across Amazon and beyond the company –XCM, ADX, Alexa Personality, Amazon Video, Audible, and others -- to share best practices and encourage the breakthrough use of language across Amazon.
Qualifications
• 5-7 years experience as a Copy Writer, Content Strategist, Art Director (copy-focused,) Linguist, or similar role
• Experience leading copy standards and examples for a high volume of conceptual and production work
• Passion for creating scalable processes that elevate the strategic impact of language and writing
• Excellent project management, communication and organizational skills
