Job description
Acting Out seeks a part-time Vocal/Musical Theater Teacher.
Who we are-
For the past 15 years, Acting Out! has provided professional level acting and musical theatre training to children in the South Brooklyn community. Our courses include all levels of acting, musical theatre, improvisation, film/television, as well as private lessons for singing, piano, and audition preparation.
Having both the practical know-how and an insightful, educational approach, our instructors bring their collective experience to our ego-free classrooms. Our students benefit from our instructors' nurturing yet practical method that focuses both on individual growth and creating supportive ensembles. Most importantly, our instructors dedicate themselves to providing our students with an environment in which they feel safe in expressing the full range of emotions required in developing their performing arts skills.
What you will do-
Teach all levels of musical theatre and private voice lessons to ages 5-17 at our location in Brooklyn, NY.
Be part of a collaborative team with Acting Out owners and teaching staff that works together to continually offer the highest level of training to our students.
Provide individual attention to each students needs and engage in honest communication with parents about their child's growth.
Direct end-of-class musical theater performances that showcase the growth of each ensemble through a selection of scenes and/or songs that are age and experience-level appropriate.
Commit to our year-round schedule of classes with school-year classes/lessons running from September-June and potentially summer classes/lessons running from July-August.
Who you are-
You have experience and continued interest in working with children ages 5-17
You can create a variety of progressive lesson plans for classes of 12-15 students as well as one-on-one vocal lessons.
You are an experienced vocal teacher that strives to teach students proper vocal techniques.
You have basic piano skills, including knowledge of scales and teaching harmonies.
You have a strong background both professionally and educationally in your field.
You have a desire to grow with our company.
You approach work with a pro-active, positive attitude and collaborative spirit.
You take initiative and have strong communication and time management skills.
Salary commensurate with experience
