Job Summary:
Reporting to the Director of Theater Operations, the Theater Manager is responsible for events in the Academy's Goldwyn Theater (1010 seats), Dunn Theater (286 seats), and reception facilities. The Theater Manager will interface with outside clients and in-house programmers to provide guidance and assistance for all screenings and will supervise a team of theater staff who provide customer care.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Samuel Goldwyn and Dunn Theater Events
• Schedule and enforce prompt report times and proper attire
• Oversee timesheet completion and verify hours worked
• Supervise and enforce admittance procedures and guest policies
• Work with various in-house teams to implement the detailed needs of each event
• Maintain knowledge of theatrical lighting consoles, Yamaha LS9 - 32 channel digital mixing console, portable sound system, wireless microphones, sound equipment set-up and maintenance, amplification and microphone principles
• Handle any guest concerns or special needs
• Start films on time and monitor screenings
• Load out theater/lobbies and close facilities
• Document issues or incidents
• Ensure that all facilities are in good repair, clean and ready for use, making sure that the facility is returned to pre-event condition following an event
• Make announcements as needed
• Learn to recognize Academy members, governors and staff
Rental Events
• All of the above
• Interface with Theater Operations and clients
• Monitor clients and their staff in upholding the rental agreement
• Supervise load-out and breakdown after receptions and screenings
• Ensure that theaters, lobbies, bathrooms, kitchen and loading dock are left in good order and assess as well as document any damage done to our facilities
Qualifications and Requirements:
• Bachelor's Degree
• 4+ years' experience in a business environment, including experience as a manager
• Grace, discretion, and highly professional verbal and written communication skills is a must for working with other departments, Academy members, and the public
• High proficiency in MS Office
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to shift direction quickly and adapt to immediate needs of an event
• Prior training and knowledge in CPR procedures
• Must be available to work nights and weekends
