Senior Producer - Live Programming (ABC News)
Job Summary:
ABC News Digital has an opening for a Senior Producer, Live Programming who is extremely creative and has extensive experience in creating and executing live video, both in the control room and in the field. This role calls for someone who has a passion for storytelling, an urge to produce wildly creative live moments and a desire to be at the forefront of digital video broadcasting. As a senior leader on the team, they will be a leader during breaking news and help shape the way in which we cover everything from news events to truly unpredictable live moments.
Responsibilities:
• Keeping up with the demands of the constantly changing news industry and be flexible enough to balance multiple projects/priorities simultaneously.
• Able work with on-air talent, both from a producing/writing in the control room perspective and in the field.
• Have a strong grounding and appreciation for the 24/7 digital rhythm of news; and be passionate and excited about the future of news.
• Oversee editorial and control room staff for extended hours of on-air coverage and handle scheduling needs.
• Project manager a variety of projects with different workflows and deadlines simultaneously. Manage and approve budgets through all phases of production.
• Proactively identify, address problems quickly and independently and create solutions that are based on informed decisions
• Form and maintain strong relationships and partnerships with people at various levels, both within ABC News and outside the company, when it comes to a variety of disciplines of business and production
Basic Qualifications:
• All candidates should have extensive control room experience and excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, along with experience producing live video and preferably experience in digital live streaming.
• A willingness to work a variety of shifts, including evenings, overnights and weekends and thrive under daily deadline pressures
• A minimum of 7 years of experience in one or more of the following areas: Live streaming, television news, public affairs programming, political, national or international affairs programming.
• Business communication skills (written and verbal) – ability to effectively communicate and interact with people at various levels and in various disciplines of business and production
Required Education
• Bachelor's degree (TV/Film/Journalism or related field) or equivalent work experience
