News Editor (ABC News)
Job Summary:
ABC News is seeking a full-time News Editor to join our growing digital team.
News editors are responsible for working with reporters and producers to create and publish clean, accurate and fast copy. The editors will also focus on creating snappy, shareable headlines, and will play a large role in visual story packaging. Editors should be familiar and comfortable with AP style, and thrive in a fast-paced, 24/7 news environment. The role is based in New York City.
Responsibilities:
• Work with the newsgathering desk to determine what is reportable
• Collaborate with reporters, producers, editors, bookers and correspondents
• When necessary, file breaking news stories
• Make editorial judgments on a minute-to-minute basis
Basic Qualifications:
• Minimum 3 years' experience editing for a digital news outlet
• Ability to write on deadline with speed and accuracy
• Proven experience handling breaking news
• Willingness and desire to collaborate across different teams
• Ability to balance priorities, multiple projects and tasks
Required Education
• BA or BS from a 4-year accredited college or university or equivalent experience
