Job Summary:
ABC News is seeking a Washington Deputy Bureau Chief, reporting to the Washington Bureau Chief. The Deputy Bureau Chief will help to lead a 24/7 multiplatform team of highly professional and committed journalists responsible for covering the federal government, public policy, and electoral politics. Those journalists contribute to all ABC News programs and platforms across television, digital, streaming and radio.
Responsibilities:
• Oversees the team responsible for reporting, storytelling and newsgathering within the Washington Bureau and on behalf of all ABC News' platforms in the spirit of achieving One ABC News goal
• Maintains the Bureau's high journalistic standards and drives a strong, creative, and innovative editorial vision for ABC News' coverage of Washington
• Acts as an advocate for all journalists within the Washington Bureau
• Works closely with the assignment desk and platforms to shape what and how we cover the news
Basic Qualifications:
• Must be editorially strong and creative, an excellent reporter and storyteller, skilled in leading a large team of producers and correspondents, and have extensive writing, reporting, producing, and management experience
• Must have a strong understanding of Washington
• Exceptional experience building and managing large teams
• Proven ability to communicate effectively and build relationships and provide outstanding internal and external client service
• Candidates must also have strong financial acumen and be able to work directly with the Bureau Chief to manage a large newsgathering budget
Required Education
• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience
