Job Summary:
ABC News is hiring an Audience Engagement Editor. The Audience Engagement Editor is a key member of the ABC News Publishing Strategy group, responsible for presenting ABC News content to audiences across all platforms, including our website, mobile apps, OTT and social (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.). This individual will be responsible for writing push alerts and social posts for our digital properties.
We are seeking a seasoned candidate with extensive editorial experience. You must be comfortable optimizing news content across a wide variety of platforms, working closely across teams, and cultivating relationships with external distribution points. The candidate must feel comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment, while demonstrating impeccable judgment.
Responsibilities:
• Responsible for positioning ABC News content across different platforms including web, mobile and social
• Use a mix of editorial judgment and metrics to determine content placement/priority
• Pitch ABC News content to high-value partners
• Responsible for writing and selecting content for push alerts to app users
• Create engaging content, including video, for social platforms
• Partner with data analytics teams to establish and track KPIs, provide actionable insights and develop best practices
• Identify new opportunities for growth
• Job includes weekend work, Saturday & Sunday
Basic Qualifications:
• Minimum three years of relevant experience in a digital news operation
• Prior experience programming digital platforms and managing social media accounts
• Strong writing and editing skills
• Knowledge of the digital media landscape, including mobile and social
• Ability to effectively interact with all levels of end users and technical resources
• Familiarity with web analytics products
• Adherence to the highest standards of journalism
• Knowledge of AP style and SEO best practices
• Must be available to work on short notice during breaking news situations
Required Education
BA/BS from a four-year accredited college or university
