Job Summary:
ABC News is looking for an Assistant Story Editor to work in the 20/20 booking department.
Responsibilities:
Duties include some administrative tasks, such as answering phones, travel assistance and research on stories of interest. This position will also have the opportunity to research stories of interest, finding and pitching stories that would be viable as 2 hour yarns, and booking and development of stories. Candidate will be expected to book competitive stories, be available for breaking news and to travel for bookings and trials. Our team also assists the other ABC News shows as needed with breaking news and big stories of interest across platforms. The Assistant Story Editor also comes in at 7AM several days a week to read the papers and put together a headlines of the day note. She/he will also be expected to work a late night shift on a rotating basis on Friday nights through the broadcast at 11PM.
Basic Qualifications:
Candidate should have strong editorial sensibilities and great communication skills.
Candidate should have some journalism experience. Excellent computer/social media skills. Strong writer.
Preferred Qualifications:
Ability to shoot.
