Part Time Paid Internship
Job Summary:
The ABC News Early Morning team produces 2 hours of overnight news programming on the ABC network- World News Now and America This Morning- with 1.5 million combined viewers on average per day, while also servicing Good Morning America production needs.
Responsibilities:
A day in the life…
• Assist producers with all aspects of news gathering and production, including on-air segments
• Build story proposal lists and elements
• Assist with delivery of show production elements/rundowns, etc.
• Running scripts
• Travel on story shoots
• Opportunities for story writing/editing available and encouraged
• Opportunities for pitching and producing segments for air
Basic Qualifications:
What you bring to the role…
• Video editing experience with Avid
• Strong news judgment
• Strong writing skills
*TO BE QUALIFIED, YOU MUST BE WILLING TO WORK A REGULAR SHIFT FROM 9PM – 5AM, SUNDAY-THURSDAY*
Preferred Qualifications:
• Recent graduate within 6 months of graduation date
• Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
• Major or previous coursework in journalism
• Previous experience (academic or internship) in television, news & new media production
• Previous experience (academic or internship) writing news stories for publication
• Strong proficiency in non-linear video editing software (AVID or Final Cut)
• Previous internship experience in professional newsroom
Additional Information:
Internship Eligibility
• Must possess unrestricted work authorization
• Must be at least 18 years old
• Must currently be enrolled in an accredited college or university and taking at least one class – OR – be a recent graduate of an accredited college or university within the last six (6) months - OR - be currently participating in the Disney College Program, Disney Culinary Program or Disney Professional Internship Program
• Must provide their own housing and transportation for the duration of the internship
• Must be able to have a consistent, reliable work schedule throughout the session
Program Dates
• Must be available from September to December
• Must be willing to work 40 hours/week (overnight hours)
