ABC News Digital Production Associate (Project Hire)
Job Summary:
ABC News Digital has an opening for a Production Associate who will be responsible for assisting live video coverage at ABC News. The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys being part of a team and is looking to help grow ABC News' live storytelling capabilities. Role includes working under hourly deadlines to help our team's source and produce news headlines with a variety of stories. This is an opportunity to pitch ideas and work as part of a team that is at the forefront of live streaming
This is a project position and is anticipated to last one year.
Responsibilities:
• Supporting producer in all aspects of production including: logging, coordinating live video coming into the network, researching video, stills and editorial information.
• Work closely with editor and producer to gather video and stills for news headlines.
• Have a strong grounding and appreciation for the 24/7 digital rhythm of news; and be passionate and excited about the future of news.
• Proactively work to help team identify and address problems quickly when they arise.
• Ensure that the live video team is in constant communication with other teams and broadcasts at ABC News and working with the greatest levels of efficiency.
• Editing video for headline stories and updating with new information or images every hour.
Basic Qualifications:
• Minimum 2 years in newsroom environment or similar
• Must be familiar with various media formats as well as library systems
• Strong editorial and organization skills, as well as the ability to perform duties under deadlines
• Ability to generate original story ideas
• A strong understanding of social media and a demonstrated ability to sustain a variety of social media accounts
• A willingness to work a variety of shifts, including evenings, overnights and weekends and thrive under daily deadline pressures
• Bachelor's degree required (TV/Film/Journalism or related field) or equivalent work experience
• Knowledge of Avid (or similar non-linear editing platform)
Preferred Qualifications:
• An understanding of the current digital landscape of live streaming
