Position Summary:
This position is a key player in the Content Services and Operations team based in Stamford, CT. This role reports to the Senior Director, Content Distribution Services. The Director, CDS is the ''go-to'' person and is responsible for leading the distribution and support of A E's digital properties including Video-on-Demand, TV Everywhere, Download-To-Own, SVOD, OTT, AVOD, International Programs Sales/Channel Partners and our own Brand Sites and cross-platforms apps and devices, among others.
You will manage day-to-day operations, staffing and provide strategic and operational leadership to a highly talented and motivated Content Distribution Services team. The CDS team provides distribution services including support metadata management and curation, dynamic ad-insertion, encoding and media preparation, quality control, content packing and high-speed delivery of A E Networks' programming across global platforms. This role will drive innovation and maintain a ''best-in-class'' high quality standard for the digital distribution operations. They will lead the effort to align resources, capacity planning and prioritization to meet distribution demands and support cross-division business clients.
Daily reporting on delivery confirmations, issue mitigation and performance metrics are part of the standard operating procedure. Additionally, the Director, CDS, will partner with internal teams and vendors to work on strategic initiatives aimed at increased reliability, productivity, and growth. Partner with key IT and process stakeholders to continually enhance systems and processes. As part of the core team, embrace development and adoption of emerging Digital Standards and Best Practices (ex., EIDR, EMA Avails, IMF, Common Media Manifest). And lastly, you will also be accountable for measuring and controlling quality across the digital environment, by driving optimal standard practice training, technology, and workflows.
Position Responsibilities:
Own and manage strong working relationships with internal and external partners.
Oversee the end-to-end distribution of A E Networks' digital assets across a diverse portfolio of products, platforms and partnerships.
Interact with your team leads, managers, engineering, IT and production clients, and other members of the Content Services and Operations team regarding the management of assets, projects and new workflows. Streamline existing workflows for the acquisition, storage, management, retrieval, and sharing of production assets using available hardware and software.
Identify, document and communicate technical issues and discrepancies to Management and colleagues, escalating to Engineering as needed.
Stay current with file based software technologies including transcoding, encoding, servers, storage tools, and computer networking, etc. Maintain a complete understanding and application of Avid, Adobe, Telestream, Aspera, thePlatform, Mac/PC platforms and peripheral connectivity.
Coach, mentor, lead, train and manage a diverse team for overall organizational success. Lead strong partnership with our engineering and digital teams to implement new technologies, resolve partner issues, and maintain minimal disruptions.
Work directly with distribution partners and clients to resolve issues, satisfy delivery obligations and execute changes to our digital footprint in a dynamic environment
Qualification Requirements
5-7 years of studio, media supply chain and/or digital distribution experience, preferably running content operations for a video distributer.
Ability to multi-task, prioritize and manage time effectively. Comfortable approaching new technologies and workflows. Excellent client services skills. Friendly can-do attitude, ability to stay calm under pressure and strong relationship builder. Very strong written and verbal communication skills. Must interact effectively with distribution partners and management across all levels of the organization. Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, ability to multi-task and time management skills in a fast-paced, client-driven environment.
Solid understanding of video fundamentals including: sync, time code, standards, formats and frame rates. Knowledge of digital video formats, transcoding and delivery methods.
Experience working with video codecs like MPEG 4, H.264, H.265 and containers like HTML5, MKV and MP4. Knowledge of DAI workflows, Ad Insertion, content conditioning, cue point, live
linear, etc. You will be working with IT, Engineering and third party vendors to design and deploy a hybrid distribution platform leveraging cloud infrastructure like Amazon, Google Cloud Platform, Azure and other tools.
Strong working knowledge of metadata, media, asset movement, storage, sequencing and naming conventions. Flexible and adaptable with an appetite for implementing positive change, keen problem-solving abilities. Self-starter who proactively identifies and structures opportunities and projects

Educational Requirements College Degree Preferred, (Communications or Engineering)
