Full Time Unpaid Internship
Walt Disney Animation Studios Technology Department develops software for our animated films. Software Engineers work closely with production users to create tools for modeling, rigging, animation, dynamics, shading, effects, look, and/or rendering while leveraging experience in graphics technology, mathematics, and research. Software Engineers on the Tech-Procedural team work on tools for procedural geometry, environments, and look development.
Project Overview
Sampling is a fundamental technique in computer graphics for rendering, procedural geometry, and other applications where well-distributed uniformly-random samples are desirable. We are currently seeking a summer intern to work on tools for creating art-directable 3D sample sets from arbitrary geometric models. The goal of this internship is to explore the use of efficient techniques for generating samples for use in character and environment modeling. The intern will study and analyze the existing tools and techniques at Disney Animation, research the state of the art from industry and academia, and apply the techniques to our look development process. This project will be a close collaboration between artists and technologists to improve the quality and integrity of our characters and environments.

• Create a reusable library for reuse in different applications
• Propose changes to data and workflows
• Integrate the new library and tools into our production toolset
• Document progress and and results throughout the internship with a final presentation at the end
