Senior Programme Ratings Exec (Fixed Term)
Job Title: Senior Programme Ratings Executive
Department: Viewer Insight & Programme Ratings
Reporting To: Airtime Management Manager
Location: Hawley Crescent, Camden, London
Contract: Fixed Term, 12 Months
Purpose of the Role:
The Programme Ratings department is responsible for forecasting ratings for a range of demographs for all forthcoming programmes scheduled across the Channel 5 family of channels.
As Senior Programme Ratings Exec, you will monitor programme performance of the Channel 5 portfolio and other channels. You will observe viewing trends and update ratings accordingly, and update relevant programme charts. You will also feed back information to peer groups and ensure that airtime is booked efficiently. Good numeracy skills and meticulous attention to detail are essential for succeeding in this position.
Key Accountabilities:
• Responsible for the accurate prediction of ratings, audience volumes and programme profiles for Channel 5 and 5Spike
• Responsibility for the prediction of TVRs and impacts across all key sales demographs for Channel 5 and 5Spike (the role may also require covering all other Channel 5 family channels)
• Assist the Airtime Management team with Impact Delivery and Audience Profile predictions
• Oversee the press process from preparing breaks to manipulating minutage through to rating the new press week
• Help with the prediction of ratings performance and value of all proposed commissions and acquisitions with reference to their profitability to the channel
• Attendance at a monthly BBAM meeting as and when required
• Superuser status for the BTS ratings system and any proposed developments and testing
• Analysis of commercial minutage allocation in order to optimise airtime value delivery
• Point of contact for the Programming, Scheduling, Partnerships, Digital, Research and Finance teams with regards to any Strategic changes to the schedule
• Regular meetings with representatives from the Programming and Scheduling departments in order to discuss the schedule and programming
• Responsibility for the preparation of hour by hour impact Presentations for the channel managers
• Assist Senior Management team with ad hoc project work e.g. potential new channel launches
Experience & Knowledge:
• Must have extensive knowledge of and experience in the ratings prediction process
• Must have an in-depth understanding of the television and media market as a whole and, more importantly, our major competitors and their schedules
• Ideally experienced in viewing and impact predictions
• Experience in presenting to small and large groups of peers and senior management
• Advanced numerical skills
• Ability to work on cross-departmental large-scale strategic projects
• Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines
• Can build and develop relationships quickly with a variety of individuals at all levels across the whole company
• Excellent communication skills
• Highly numerate and analytical with an ability to work accurately with numbers and draw conclusions from the data
• Experience with Techedge system
• Demonstrates an approach to work that is characterised by commitment, motivation and energy
