Job Summary:
We are currently seeking a Senior Royalty Analyst in Universal Music Publishing Group. The person in this role will work independently and make decisions with regards to implementing royalty rates and other contractual
obligations into the Royalty and Copyright system. The Sr. Royalty Analyst must be able to communicate and work with upper management in Finance, Central Accounting, Copyright and Business Affairs Departments in order to effectuate royalty contractual and financial obligations.
Job Functions:
• Review, analyze and remediate client and song conversion data as part of the reformation of the Royalty and Copyright system
• Reconcile and review journal entries posted and transferred to royalty system by Central Accounting/Finance to ensure alignment with contractual terms of client agreements and/or other supporting financial documentation
• Review and analyze client accounts for special handling obligations and implementing them. This includes directing data entry department to make corrections needed per client royalty obligations
• Create and oversee manual joint venture and participation accounting
• Analyze contracts and implement royalty accounting rates. Work with Copyright Department to set up the copyright assignment of rights per the contract
• Create royalty financial transactions for accounting adjustments, recoupable costs, and royalty payments
• Responsible for calculating copyright registration costs and demo/studio cost recoupment
• Manage special handling data base for the Royalty Department
• Answer client inquiries with regards to financial and/or contractual accounting issues
• Special projects as requested
Job Requirements:
Skills/Abilities:
• Must be able to work well under pressure in a fast paced environment
• Must have strong written and communication skills
• Must be detail oriented and have strong organization skills
Experience:
• Music Publishing and royalty contract accounting preferred
• SAP, Access, Excel and AS400
Education:
• Bachelor degree in Finance, Accounting or equivalent experience preferred
