Metadata Specialist (12 month Fixed Term Contract)
Description
Job title: Metadata Specialist (Fixed Term Contract)
Responsible to: Head of UK Metadata
Department: UMGI - Digital Operations
Location of work: Kensington Village
Main purpose of role
• To provide a metadata service for UMGI’s labels. The team manage repertoire setup, research, completion and approval tasks for both frontline and catalogue releases managed within the UK.
• The quick and accurate resolution of data issues is critical to the success of this role. This will often require liaising directly with our legal, finance, royalties, distribution, reporting and business partners globally to ensure that a solution works for all parts of the business and that a release date is not missed
• Handles all release requirements for all future central catalogue digital initiatives and retailer exclusives/ranges to ensure that the growing number of digital products required by the group is catered for
• Handle all release requirements for physical and digital (audio and audio-visual) for migrated content plus all future label/catalogue acquisitions
• Respond to all international territory requirements for digital or mobile set-up of Universal-owned catalogue
• Ensure correct and complete product setup in R2 so that revenues for the group’s audio-visual content online is claimed and secured
• Ensure audio visual ‘non-commercial’ content is captured in asset repository and R2 and delivered to all relevant partners to required deadlines
• Ensure quality control on data entered into the R2 system
• Ensure data clean up in R2 on behalf of the rep owning labels
• Handling projects pertaining to acquisition of 3rd parties and related data migration and set up
• Liaise with the Digital Production and Delivery teams to ensure all projects are scheduled correctly
Person Specification
Essential
• A detailed understanding of metadata requirements and related issues across all product types, media and genres
• Strong interpretative skills – able to translate customer’s requests into tasks that will solve the underlying issue (as this is not always clear from the outset)
• Experience in quickly understanding new business information systems and processes
• Ability to work closely with other team members while, at the same time, taking responsibility for and initiative over personal workload
• Excellent coordination, communication, reporting and trouble-shooting skills
• Ability to work effectively under pressure, multi-task and be highly flexible in order to juggle priorities and meet all deadlines
• Personable and co-operative approach, strong verbal and written communication
• Ability to communicate effectively to colleagues, key internal and external business contacts
Desirable
• Strong passion for and knowledge of music
• Strong understanding of the creation of metadata in R2 and how this is interpreted in:
• The differences in messaging between classical music releases and non-classical partners.
• The requirements of our physical supply chain division
• The requirements of our financial reporting systems
• The needs of broadcast / neighbouring rights societies
• The needs of our copyright / royalty divisions globally
