The successful candidate will:
• Have an excel advanced skillset
• Come from a banking or analytical background
• Have excellent attention to detail
• Be able to interpret data confidently
• Intermediate SQL skills
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
• performing regular and ad-hoc analysis for Commercial Affairs senior directors/vps;
• providing guidance from a business perspective for the development of new analysis systems;
• presenting data in a confident and attractive way (in powerpoint)
Regular and Ad-Hoc Analysis
The primary goal of the Commercial Analyst will be to gather, standardise, interpret and troubleshoot different pieces of sales and subs, pricing and other types of commercial data, as well as existing or ad-hoc market research, with the aim of providing solid ground for commercial decisions.
The analysis would focus on operating deals and current business models, across physical and digital. It would not extend towards future/potential deals, as this is already covered by the Digital team.
The successful candidate will work independently on some of the tasks, and coordinate on a daily basis with other members of Commercial Affairs team on other tasks. In particular, the analysis would focus on the following areas (the list is indicative and not exhaustive):
The Commercial Analyst will also be often required to build presentations about results of analysis, and present to the Commercial Affairs team and/or to other key stakeholders in the company.
Person specification
• Educated to degree level or equivalent
• Management or Economics degree is advantageous, with strong quantitative background
• Computer science degree with some previous commercial experience is also advisable
• Outstanding IT skills, with excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office and (mandatory) advanced Excel skills
• Proven ability quickly to learn new software (e.g. Business Objects, MicroStrategy)
• Able to make rational judgements from the available information, by demonstrating an inquisitive and analytical approach
• Highly numerate and result-orientated, with attention to detail, focus on high quality and ability to always understand context of analysis
• Diligent and reliable, capable of managing and delivering on multiple projects simultaneously and to a high standard, both autonomously and as part of a team
• Excellent written and oral communication skills; confident in presenting results of analysis to both small and large groups within the company
• Thorough understanding of current business models for music distribution and consumption, and the issues/challenges faced by the company and the industry
• Personally interested in new media, digital and all technology
• Highly committed, prepared to work as intensively/long as necessary to reach fixed targets and meet deadlines
