TIFF, a vibrant not-for-profit arts organization, is hiring for the contract position of:
MANAGER, SCHOOL & FAMILY PROGRAMMES (Maternity Leave)
Reporting to the Senior Director, Learning, the Manager, School & Family Programmes will build strategic relationships with parents, schools, school boards and educational leaders to strengthen family, student and educator learning programmes; including facilitation of teacher professional development workshops and conference-related programming, artist training, and school-based/family outreach.
Day-to-day, the Manager, School & Family Programmes will oversee the execution of all camp-related and school engagement developed by TIFF, including screenings, hands-on workshops and free family activities.
Responsibilities
• Cultivate a strategic outreach plan and needs assessment across GTA school boards, schools and educators in order to build relationships that result in deepened and ongoing engagement with TIFF Learning programmes
• Oversee all school visits to TIFF Bell Lightbox as well as in-class filmmaking residencies (TIFF Kids, digiPlaySpace, Workshops, In-school Residencies, Screenings, Spring Forward; approximately 450 workshops and screenings per school year)
• Write and coordinate the development of teacher resources for workshops, film screenings, and digiPlaySpace
• Lead in-cinema presentations, tours and facilitated discussions for TIFF School Programmes (as required)
• Create and facilitate professional development workshops for TIFF Learning and represent TIFF at educational conferences; presenting conference sessions where and when appropriate
• Oversee the execution of march break and summer camp, including facilitator training
• Advise Learning team on trends in STEAM and Media Literacy Education
• Research current trends in education and potential partner organizations in the arts and educational communities for School and Camp Workshops
• Liaise with TIFF's Marketing Department to build strategic partnerships to grow target audiences and ensure existing promotional initiatives and collateral support the interests of the educational community and families of the GTA and surrounding areas
• Oversee School and Family programmes budgets
• Other duties as required
Minimum Requirements
• A post-secondary degree in Film or Education or equivalent
• 5 years experience working with, and a proven interest in, youth (ages 4-18)
• 3 years event/production experience
• Previous supervisory experience of staff and independent contractors
• Proven interest in, and knowledge of, film
• Up-to-date knowledge of GTA School Boards and education culture
• An understanding of the Ontario school curriculum and the ability to write and edit lesson plans and curriculum support materials
• Experience working in, supervising and creating programming for child and youth camps
• Previous experience speaking in front of large groups and facilitating workshops
• Strong computer skills (MS Office suite, database experience)
• Exemplary telephone and interpersonal communication skills
• Extremely organized and detail-oriented with an ability to multitask; adaptable, with the ability to solve problems creatively
• Willingness to work as an integral part of a close-knit team
• Can complete a successful vulnerable sector check
• Adaptable to a flexible work schedule including some evenings and weekends
