TIFF, a vibrant not-for-profit arts organization, is hiring for the contract position of:
Assistant, Government & Foundation Relations
Reporting to the Director, Government & Foundation Relations in Advancement, the Assistant, will provide administrative, project management support, assisting in the securing of annual and project funding from all levels of government, foundations, and philanthropic funders supporting TIFF's year-round and Festival programming.
The Advancement team cultivates and maintains strong working relationships with representatives from all levels of government, foundations, members, donors, and international consulates. The Assistant will be an important part of our enthusiastic, results-oriented team, providing exceptional writing skills and adhering to assigned stewardship requirements throughout the contract period.
Responsibilities
• Assist Management in researching, identifying, creating, and submitting proposals to all in conjunction with all departments within TIFF
• Implement approved tactics and specific activities for solicitation of support from foundations, philanthropic funders, government agencies, and international consulates
• Assist Management in ensuring project budget controls in place with any approved funding
• Support project management for a number of TIFF initiatives involving stewardship events: includes regular RE (Raiser's Edge) updates and list management and coordinating any follow-up communications.
• Compose various pieces of TIFF correspondence for internal and external stakeholders, specifically communication briefing notes
• Serve as a supportive point of contact for external stakeholders via phone, email, and at meetings and events
• Coordinate ticketing needs, access passes, event invitations, and venue seating charts for stakeholders at TIFF's various festivals and year-round programming
• Build strong working relationships with key internal stakeholders, including programmers and other colleagues
• Participate in departmental and committee meetings and recording minutes to ensure open lines of communication within the organization and to stakeholders
• Other administrative duties as assigned that may include photocopying, faxing, couriering, or filing as needed
Minimum Requirements
• Strong research skills, with an ability to retrieve, and efficiently organize and present information
• Strong networking skills, with an ability to act with tact and diplomacy
• Superior communication skills, both verbal and written
• Excellent organizational skills, with superior attention to detail
• Excellent computer skills and strong proficiency using Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Google software products, databases and other internet applications
• Ability to maintain a calm, professional demeanor and confidentiality while interacting with stakeholders in fast-paced situations
• Adaptable to a flexible work schedule including some evenings and weekends
• As this is a government funded placement position, the following eligibility requirements are needed:
• Applicant must be 30 years of age or under
• Applictants must hold a post-secondary diploma or degree
• Applicants must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident or a protected person as defined by the Immigration and Refugee Protection Ac
• Applicants must be legally entitled to work in Canada and be legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial/territorial legislation and regulations.
Contract Dates
• March 1, 2018 - August 31, 2018 (26 weeks)
