Under direct supervision of the Post Producer, the Online Editor/Finisher would be responsible for completing picture and audio sequence preps, quality control, exports and deliveries for in house finishes. The Finisher works closely with the Post Producer and Assistant Editors to ensure that all projects are finished, QCed, exported to spec, and delivered efficiently, accurately, and on time.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Read and comprehend finishing memos and deliverable spec sheets, and deliver accordingly
- Complete picture/audio finishing sequence preps for spots and trailers. This includes: build slates, check TRTs, overcut footage, collapse picture, drop in final graphics and audio splits, address any issues found, export according to final specs
- Complete audio preps for offline spots and trailers. This includes: audio overcut, cut in final voice over, add 2 pop, organizing, correcting pan / volume issues, addressing any issues found, and exporting audio AAFs
- Overcut offline footage with final footage
- Request final graphics from graphics department according to finishing memo
- Tag out spots by cutting in the correct voice over and graphics tags and making sure they all match and make grammatical sense
- Import and cut in final graphics, spell check, alert graphics of any issues
- Import and cut in mix approvals, present and get notes and relay to mixer
- Perform quality control on all final slates, video footage, graphics, and audio tracks
- Export and convert files to required specs
- Layoff digital stringouts to HDCAM-SR tapes
- Create final scripts, music cue sheets, and logs
- Send final digital deliverables to specified recipients via a variety of mediums (Aspera Fastpex, FTP clients, Disney Relay, Dropbox, Wiredrive, Hightail, Extreme Reach, Media Monorail)
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be organized, diligent and extremely detail-oriented
- Must be capable of working in a fast-paced, small team environment with hard deadlines
- Ability to manage time and plan according to tight deadlines
- Technologically savvy
- Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel
- Knowledge of FTP Clients (Cyberduck, Transmit)
- Understanding of frame rates (23.98p, 24p, 25p, 29.97p, 29.97i, 50i, 59.94p), timecode (drop frame, non-drop frame), aspect ratios (1.33, 1.78, 1.85, 2.39), resolutions (720x486, 1280x720, 1920x1080, 2K, 4K), and Video scanning (interlaced vs progressive)
- Understanding of audio bit depth (16bit, 24bit), sample rate (44.1kHz, 48kHz), codecs (AAC, Linear PCM), common track layouts (stereo, 5.1, split), and audio formats (WAV, AIF, mp3, m4a)
- Knowledge of various audio specs such as Stereo Mix, 5.1 Mix, DME splits, and CALM compliant
- Knowledge of digital video codecs including ProRes 422 HQ, ProRes 4444, h264, DNxHD, Photo JPEG and bit rates (ex: 6Mbit/s vs 100Mbit/s)
- Experience with video conversion tools (Quicktime Pro, Apple Compressor, Adobe Media Encoder) and understanding of the .mov and .mp4 wrappers
- Ability to troubleshoot potential A/V digital media issues or problems
- Understanding of basic editing concepts/creative editorial
REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum 2 years experience related to the qualifications and responsibilities specified above
- Proficient in Adobe Premiere Pro CC
- Extremely detail oriented and organized
