Responsibilities:
You'd join a talented team dedicated to pioneering new technologies, consoles, devices, delivery mechanisms and conditional access systems. We would incorporate your insights in designing more effective and secure platforms and strategies for media distribution.
Every single day as a Media Security Systems Engineer is different! On any one day you might:
• Provide security expertise and guidance for technology teams across Studio Technology, including Piracy Technology and Emerging Technology so we can generate new ways for media to be consumed.
• Collaborate on projects for internationally recognized brands like ABC, ESPN, Lucasfilm and Marvel.
• Autonomously perform hands-on maintenance and evaluation of software, hardware and services related to media distribution for use by our extended team;
• Organize the results of these evaluations and effectively communicate both the results and impact to the underlying technology strategy;
• Research and streamline new technologies in media security, distribution and consumer devices;
• Perform hands-on evaluation of specifically identified technologies – emerging technologies (4K, HDR, HFR, etc.), distribution technologies (IPTV, CAS, Internet OTT, etc.), consumer technologies (STBs, Game Consoles, software,) etc.;
• Consult on security, networking, storage, user interface/experience evaluations and usage rules;
• Participate in security reviews, threat modeling and breach investigations;
• Design and maintain test cases, scripts and custom test tools for evaluations while you document findings from evaluations and author detailed reports to key partners;
• Author documentation such as environment diagrams and deployment guidelines while you perform applied research on new charges and present findings to an internal audience;
• Stay ahead of trends, products, frameworks, applications, threat landscape and provide concise summary of the findings to the team
Basic Qualifications:
• Experience with meaningful IT and internet technology experience; implementing, administering, and supporting systems from development through production
• Familiar with programming in Object Oriented (OO) environment (Java, C , etc.)
• Ability to install, setup and maintain networking, hardware and software equipment as well as application servers
• Proficient with installation and configuration of OSX, Windows and Linux based operating systems and networking equipment (e.g. switches, routers etc.)
• Understanding of network protocols and data delivery
• Good understanding of security principles (PKI, RSA, etc.)
• Solid knowledge of the security model on one or more platforms (e.g. browsers, mobile devices), cryptography, and network security.
• Have an attacker mindset with a passion for breaking all the things unbreakable
• Good interpersonal and communication skills
• Articulate technical analysis results with technical and non-technical people
• Ability to multitask effectively
• Action oriented with high standard for quality and performance
• Attention to detail
• Ability to work autonomously
• Enthusiasm & curiosity for emerging technologies
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience in one or more of the following areas - security engineering, application security and/or mobile security
• Proven experience with network analysis tools (e.g. Wireshark, Fiddler, etc.)
• Familiarity with security tools such as static analysis, runtime analysis, black-box testing (e.g. IDA Pro, Olly Dbg etc.)
• Interest in media related engineering and system architecture
• Understanding of video distribution systems (OTT, Cable, Satellite, IPTV, etc.)
• Understanding of Digital Rights Management (DRM) based systems (e.g. Google Widevine, Microsoft PlayReady, Apple FairPlay, etc.)
• Understanding of mobile devices (iOS/Android) and major gaming platforms
• Experience in the evaluation and /or the development of new technologies
Required Education
• BA/BS in Computer Science or related technical field or equivalent experience
Preferred Education
• MS in CS/Engineering a plus
