Disney/ABC Home Entertainment and Television Distribution (HE/TD) is a sales-based organization overseeing distribution for all TWDC filmed content beyond the theatrical window, including Disney Live Action, Walt Disney Animation Studios, Pixar Animation Studios, Marvel Studios, Lucasfilm and Disneynature. In collaboration with key stakeholders, the HE/TD team formulates marketing and sales strategies, as it relates to the pricing, windowing, licensing and distribution of Disney's content throughout their lifecycles, including development of innovative models and tactics for monetizing and maximizing revenue in a rapidly changing media landscape.
Objective:
The Walt Disney Studios has an opening for a Manager, International TV & Digital Distribution who will be responsible for driving international growth of the international TV and SVOD business for the Studio. The ideal candidate will have experience with International TV and/or digital distribution with superior strategic & organizational skills to work in a fast paced environment. This position will report to the Director, Intl TV & Digital Distribution.
Responsibilities
• Support international sales teams in development, strategic planning and negotiation of pay TV, FTA, basic cable and SVOD deals
• Back international team negotiations for global accounts (Netflix, Amazon) and ensure consistency with deals in other territories
• Develop Studio guidance and expectations for various deal terms (including ideal financial increases, rate card strategies and utility/usage rules)
• Coordinate completion of deals with Burbank-based stakeholders (e.g. Legal, Distribution Technology, Operations)
• Oversee analysis of major output deals in conjunction with Studio Finance and summarize for senior management
• Ensure deal compliance with Studio usage rules in tandem with Legal and Distribution Technology
• Coordinate resolution and completion of all SW saga deals in conjunction with FOX/Lucasfilm, as well as support deal negotiations and provide franchise guidelines and representation to markets
• Support roll-out of Disney branded services, including B2B opps as well as direct-to-consumer
• Represent and reinforce Studio POV to international markets as they develop TV/SVOD strategies for 5YP and AOP
• Identify, analyze and share subscription service and industry best practices with all teams
• Track windowing for all media/markets and share best practices
• Coordinate distribution opportunities for additional rights/titles across numerous internal teams
Basic Qualifications
• Experience in international TV and/or digital distribution
• Strong analytical skills
• Well-developed communication skills
• Ability to interface effectively with multiple levels of management, ranging from senior executives to local managers
• Highly collaborative and team-oriented work style
• Ability to take ownership of tasks and see them through to completion
• Experienced at multi-tasking, prioritizing and utilizing multiple resources to approach a project
• Ability to thrive in a high-pressure environment and to lead teams/delegate where required
Preferred Qualifications
• 7 years of experience in international TV and/or digital distribution sales or acquisitions
• Experienced in account management, deal negotiations and strategy
• Collaborates across functions and finds common ground with various groups and individuals.
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (MS, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
• Experience in doing business in foreign markets preferred
• Foreign Language
