Full Time Unpaid Internship
Responsibilities NBC 7 and Telemundo 20 San Diego Internships provide students with real world experience and exposure to working in television industry. Internships at NBC 7 and Telemundo 20 are paid and do not require course credit.
Application Periods
Summer – Apply online between Feb 1 and March 31. Candidates selected by April 30.
Fall – Apply online between May 1 and June 30. Candidates selected by July 31.
Winter/Spring – Apply online between September 1 and October 31. Candidates selected by November 30.
Responsibilities
may include the following depending on the goals of the individual internships:
Assignment Desk:
• Making beat checks, data entry of current and future news assignments.
• Coordinate guests and make tape dubs.
• May shadow news crews in the field.
Writing/Producing:
• Assist with script writing, various newscasts.
• Guest coordinating, gathering segment guests.
• Log sound bites and data entry for future files.
Editing:
• Assist with digital archiving project. Interns will turn tapes into digital format.
• Experience with non-linear editing helpful.
Digital:
• Contribute to Telemundo 20 digital content and social media accounts.
• Desired skill level but not required:
AP Style Writing
Desktop video editing
PhotoShop Editing
Interactive graphic development
Use of content management system for digital publication. Qualifications/Requirements Qualifications:
• Must be functional in MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
• Must be Bilingual (English/Spanish) both written and verbal with excellent grammar.
• Must be bilingual (English/Spanish)
Eligibility Requirements:
• In pursuit of an Associate, Bachelor or Graduate degree at an Accredited Institution and be able to provide documentation to confirm your degree progress.
• Current class standing of sophomore or above
• Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above
